Tea of Doom

It has now been six and a half days that the carcass of the USS-Intrepid was lying in the middle of nowhere. The water that had occupied the ballast tanks had frozen to the point of breaching the hull, and the adverse weather conditions had only worsened the situation.

The remaining members of the crew had managed to build a camp at the foot of the wreckage. Out of provisions and with only one signal flare remaining, the four men were now considering their last move.

'What could've happened?'

'I don't know, but the ship still has power.'

'C'mon! There could still be someone on board.'

@Vulgar

indeed :D

it was hard to decide
this time only one vote---> merl1n (gr8 nudge usage and also color sheme)

Mateja amazing structure of wreck love it

the only thing i didn't like is black present nearly in every corner of your pic.
it make such a dirty atmosphere

xbert like it, but i think you should saturate some parts more and add add reflections on ice
don't get me wrong you set nice atmosphere but sth in my opinion is missing to full fill the picture

awesome entries guys! keep it up :)

I seem to be in the poll twice.

Might be better to take both out, don't want to mess with the vote.

Well done everyone, going to get to voting and crit-ing later.

Awesome round guys, great contributions from everyone!

Voting was pretty difficult, didn't want to vote for 10 or more entries, lol so kept it to about 4...
In the end I chose merl1n, Panshi, xbert, and Mateja great work guys!!

merl1n

Popular topic, great entries this week, so tough to narrow it down, I restricted myself to vote for the ones that I thought stuck closest to the brief so I voted for:

merl1n- Great drama and suspense, and very nicely done, I feel cold looking at it.
Panshi- Impressive sense of scale and light and I love the colours...good job all round on this I reckon.
Makrozon - The story hooked me on this one, and the different moods you've managed to get on the each side of the picture, nicely painted too.
Mateja- Ooh all the little details and the textures, stunning.
Corrick [2nd entry] - This made me go wow! involuntarily just love the atmosphere you've created and just the general awesomeness of it.
Pixeltuner- Great all round storytelling and shapes, nice work.

I also loved Xberts but didn't vote because it does kinda look like it's still in use and not a wreck to me..small technicality but I dont think it'll matter judging from the votes :)

One of the best rounds I've seen - there are too many good entries and it's hard to pick one.

I voted for

Unruhe - I really liked this one. Dramatic composition and lighting, sexy colors, nice painting style and it feels really cold. This one held me up a lot while I was going through all the sexy eye candy from this round, holy shit. I want to see more of your work now.

Blazinwolf - I like it - it's fun, like the coloring and the texture you got going on in the iceberg's, this one held me up too, is coo.

Corrick - (first one, but both good!) - Stands out cuz it's different, you totally nailed the style you were going for. This one is fun too, I looked at it and I wanted to see more of the story now.. (didn't see you on the list tho..) -- your second one has some epic scale and some mystery behind it. I can see a story there too, wanna see what they find when they get closer. I think you could have a stronger composition since it is a little plain/drab, but you had two nice entries, and hella competition, nice work man :)

merl1n Like the atmosphere a lot, your's also feels really cold, nice texturing too. I look at it and I'm glad I'm not there lol.

--some random other ones I had thoughts about..--
Panishi I am a fan of your stuff, so you do enviro's too huh! I like your colors and particularly the colorful water & ice at the bottom, also the texture on the sides of the ship. I thought the red tip thing was a little distracting/fighting with the ship "compositionally". It's a fun picture, nice job!
MartinC This was nice too. I kinda wished there was either more of the wreck to see or a more dramatic camera angle - nice entry tho.
melman I like the detailing & design of your ship, although some bits look more rendered and some more photo-texture, it probably would be good to have it more consistent overall, the non-ship parts are all pretty loosely painted in comparison.
MatejaPetkovic wow. I like the detail of the tiny boat cutting through the ice to get to the ship. The texturey & horridly cold look of the ice is really nice too.
xbert another one that looks so cold n gloomy I'm glad I wasn't on that fucking ship!
paperhead I'm digging the crazy alien shipwreck. Nice job.
0Hayes I like the colors you did. Here's one ship wreck that looks more inviting and cheerful despite the tragedy... Your ship does look a bit flat though. The front half looks like it is supposed to be in profile although I can tell that isn't what you intended. I think a little more love in the perspective & lighting department would help out.
Ryvax Your's has a very chunky/3d look to it that is cool. I also like the back-lighting you did :) Also, don't mess with polar bears! (even though yours look friendly) - also, I think the proportions or scale of your ship seem off, kinda like a cartoon ship.
Ros1 whoa, what is in that ship, those dudes better be careful checking it out. Yours I like too, stiff competition this round damn.
