You can buy pearlecent paints. Any good art store will carry them. Liquitex is a good brand. Check out my post :

I used pearl paints on that. You can notice it on the shoulders, it`s that blue shimmer.

Thanks. What I'm trying to do is replicate the look that Japanese Netsuke have...
It's generally a pure bone or Ivory look.

You can use metalic powder or embossing powder. Before curing, paint on with a brush. If you are worried about it rubbing off press gently. It gives it a different look. Or after curing, spray with fixative. Unless you airbrush the acrylic on or paint very light layers, I find that you lose the natural color of the clay.
