finished.

2 more hours, 1 of which i struggled with the arm only to bring it back to what it was. i asked for critique outside of this site and the what people had the most problems with was his arm. i tried to fix it but the only way to make it correct was to repaint it .. and in repainting it, other errors that i know about would be revealed - adding to a heap of trouble.

sense i need to get this ready to get printed out for a christmas present, i had to make due and just learn from it.

i would like to thank everyones constructive criticism, comments, and conceptart members that have watched along the way.

this image is 50% the actual size.

i roughly rounded this digital struggle to around 40 hours. that is the longest i have ever spent on any piece of artwork.

Wow, turned out a whole lot different than I had expected.
And it turned out great(not that I didn't think it would, just different). :)

I like the depth you have managed to make, especially with the sharpness of the box against the background.

I don't really like to say something negative about a piece like this, but if I should, it would be:

¤His body doesn't have the same sharpness as the box and the stuff in it, so the box becomes a focus point because of the depth perspective there.

¤I think that if he was carrying a(probably) heavy box like that, he would grab it underneath, and carry it higher on his hip. It kinda looks like it's going to slip if he's carrying it like that, plus it would strain his fingers/hands. At least, if carrying it like that, he would need a firmer grip.

¤I think the smoke from the chimney at the right is a bit too straight, but it does make it look like it's windy out there. Plus I think maybe the smoke is a bit too thick. Looks to me like it's really pushing out the smoke/steam, not just venting it.

All these are minor criticisms, and all IMO of course. Plus you're a better artist than me, so...
Others may not agree with me.

Good piece of work there! :)

Great work. It looks much better with out the lizard over the smoke. You spent a lot of time on this and it shows. That box of medal is so pimped out, I love it.

I sent you an email through this site so hopefully you get it. Let me know if you dont.

take it easy...

thank you for you comments and criticism.

i have learned alot from this piece and it seems i still have more to learn from it, thanks. i should be warry of the consitancy of style or the sharpness and blur problem in the future, it does look bothersome and takes from the picture.

he is wearing gripped rubber gloves, *sigh* yes i noticed that further along in the painting. i should think more about where i want to go with a painting, in the planning of a picture.

the chimney was supposed to be a huge smoke stock, in the distance, maybe i should have given it more of a fog, using atmoshperic perspective to make it appear larger and further away. the smoke is rather simple and thick, even for a smoke stock.

there is alot i wish i had gotten right with it, thanks again for your comments on your observations, they do help.

This is great!

As far as criticism goes, I think some parts look relatively flat.

I messed with the arm a little. I know it's not what you're going for, but maybe it helps...
