Why is this a brainfart?

I think it looks good.

Maybe give her a bow and arrow instead, although I guess this is more futuristic/hi-tech than that.

I definitely think you should finish it. :)

I forgot to mention. Your outlines are bold without being overpowering. This is something I myself must work on. :thumb:

well Im just gonna say that I dont think the gun is to big, its foreshortening and the gun IS closer so it looks pretty close to the way it should be. I actually am also a big fan of the color scheme ya used in this work. I enjoy the low key monochromamtic schemes such as this myslef. I also wanted to ask what program you are coloring this in. Gonna take a crack at digital painting myself and was just curious. oh yeah, whats the background gonna consist of, have a few things I could see but was wondering what you were gonna do.

i love it! shes amazing! put a little laser sight on the gun...if you want...make sure its on the bottom, no one (especially duke nukem) understands that sights dont go on the top of swift-firing fire-arms....sets off the dialings of the sight, making it look all wrong.....soryr for rambling *^_^*

I think that everyone is right that your drawing looks really cool. You've got all the detail, and excellent line quality to make it all happen. But I think the problem lies not in the detail, but in the pose and expression of the composition. From the looks of it, she's kind of sad, with her body and legs bent in that direction helps enhance that mood.

The problem is her right arm. Putting ANYTHING in that arm doesn't help. It's way too straight, and really really clashes with the flow of the composition. You might want to change the position of the arm SUBSTANTIALLY. If you really want her to hold a gun, it's best to have her point it closer towards the center/viewer and have her look in that direction. This may make the composition work better by interaction with the viewer. But will most likely destroy the mood, and introduce more complications.

Another thing you can do is lower the arm, and bend it. Have her reload her gun, or rest her arm somewhere instead. This will help with "weighing her down" so to speak, and increase that mood of sadness or dispair.

If you really really like the position of the arm, she'll have to be a lot more lively and dynamic in order for it to work right. Her expression may also have to change, and she might also have to have a target to aim at. But that's almost like redoing the entire drawing. :P
