I know most of you wouldn't consider this a "finished work" .. my apologies. I bet fredflickstone could churn one of these 1000 better as a "sketch" in 1 hr. It took me 2-3 hours though, all wet on wet except teh shirt which i did later. I'm proud of it though, so i geuss why it's in here. if its not good enough just move it to sketches. :|
Hrm.. if you have any C&C on colors or anything at all, i would greatly value it.

nice! always good to see some tradirtional stuff around here. i think critwise, you could benefit from some softening of edges, for instance on the left side of the face, a softened edge would turn the form more. and play with less saturated color inthe fleshtones, overall he feeld really warm, and could benefit from some more grayed down skintones here and there, particularly in the shadows. the more you paint, the more you'll eventually realize that realist painting is almost all shades and slightly different hues of gray. good work overall though. i could instantly recognize it as shakespearer:)-c36

i wish the flesh had the same richness of color variation as the background. but thats just me. :)
draw more heads...your structure needs to improve. look into your piece...see if things sit in space where they should.
yes...i agree with coro.

Wow, thanks for commenting :)
When I do shadows, if i do it this way is there anything wrong with it? I can take the base color, and ifi ts a cool shadow i add blue and its compliment and a little white. if its a warm shadow i add red and its compliment and a little base color.
Shadows still confuse me :(
