Hello again,

Well after much talking with random people, I have decided to post again.

This piece is titled "Transfusion" and it's about robotica going wrong. There is a huge story behind this character, but I will save you the chatter. Originally this character was developed for a personal artbook titled 'Exceptions To Life'. Over 50+ images were created with a common theme... futuristic discarded robots. Robots, in general, are fascinating and scary.... kinda like dolls.

I am personally funding the book, so hopefully by next year it will see the light of day.

When I get home, I will post some larger details of this piece:

I am a fan of Tool and Bjork, so musically they are my inspiration.

Disturbing yet fascinating image...me like. The tat on the robot's eye is cool looking.

Wow, publishing your own book...that's something man. Good luck, make sure you let us know when it's gonna be out. BTW, I checked out your site, neat stuff. I can see the Tool influence in the imagery: melding of dead decaying mechanical things with organic stuff....love it.

This is my favorite one on your site man...this is awesome. Great work. I read that you were getting one of your pieces in Spectrum...WOW what an accomplishment!!!! That is awesome man...I will look forward to turning the page and seeing your image on there. Great job bro. Sorry about that fiasco before. That isn't the way things usually work around here. Sorry about that.

p.s. - The background on this makes it even better. Sounds like a cool book.

[ talos72] The tattoo is from a garbage truck. Pretty crazy, hu? Thanks for the comment earilier about Joel Peter Witkin. Fascinating artist because he creates such beautiful photos that are so disturbing. Usually I want to look away, but I cannot. I took a look over your website and liked your Creature sketches. Especially the goblin mother with the baby.

About the book, I will definitely drop a line when it's finished. It's a scary process because of the amount of money that is needed to invest...and hoping to recover the investment. Now I know why most artists have book publishers to produce their books...no risks or stress.

[MindCandyMan] Sorry that I did not respond to your earlier posting. The creative process, for me, is never the same... which makes it almost impossible to recreate certain pieces of art.... like this one...Transfusion. Sometimes it might be the music I listen to(zoning out while doodling). Sometimes it might be a color. Or a photo of a texture. Or a line that I accidently drew on a napkin. The only thing that I can hope for, in the end, that it emits so sort of feeling/emotion.

I like that piece. I Like the cold feeling it has to it. Kinda creepy. It reminds me of a news report thing I saw on robots. There's this robot that is almost human. Damn, I can't believe how far science has gone.:(

That's what your piece reminded me of. I'd buy your book. Make sure to tell us when its out.

Check out Cam's Happy Pencil (http://www.happypencil.com/) It's the website of the artist that does all of Tool's artwork. Very cool stuff, I think you'd really get a kick out of this guy J.

No sweat bomba. Thanks...that's an interesting statement you made too...talking about how you couldn't recreate the art that you do. That's really cool though if you think about it. The art kind of takes on a life of its own outside of the one who created it. Very interesting stuff. Keep up the good work bro.

Hey Imphead,

Checked out that website.....so COOL! YEah. Did you see the boxed creature with the chattering mouth and moving eyes? Awesome. Definitely got a kick out of the site. Thanks!

MindCandyMan What I said about "Not being able to recreate my art" was wrong. I can recreate my art, but I have a hard time trying to recreate the emotion that it expresses. So I constantly find myself trying different methods and experimenting with my art to see what other emotions evolve from the pieces.

Does that make any sense?

Oh ok yeah I know exactly what you mean. That makes a lot of sense. A lot of times there is an intangible emotion that can be felt through a piece. Sure it can be explained by saying something like, "Well the particular images he used convey....blah blah". But there is something about a piece that was created out of pain, anger, etc... while the artist was in the midst of it. It's tiring to be an artist...constantly bearing your soul for all to look on.

I can see definite emotion in your pieces. Awesome work man.
