Round #177: Magic Carpet Racing World Cup

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e181/chaosrocks/EOW2.jpg

TOPIC = Magic Carpet Racing World Cup

Brief:

In ancient times, an alliance of sultans and kings set out to create a new competitive sport pitting magic carpet fliers against each other in an all out race of epic proportions. The rules varied depending on the hosting country or region, as the terrain all over the world was wildly different and sometimes very treacherous. Before being abolished as a sport by Badr the Dreadful because he was allergic to carpet fabric, the Magic Carpet Racing World Cup had reached it’s zenith and was truly a fantastic sight to behold during that time period.

Voted for Corrick. I liked the Arabian aesthetic better for this topic.

P.S. Vulgar, this thread was named "Mecha Flea Market on the Beach VOTING", so I corrected that for ya'.

What went on here? How are there only two entries? This was a good topic. Where did all the environment-peeps go? Corrick, you've been cranking out great stuff here for a while, always nice to see your name still showing up here. Great style!

android: I think the incorporation of the photographic elements needed some better blending. Also, the "Finish" banner looks very out of place. Overall composition, lighting and colors good though.

Corrick, Could you make those available as wallpapers? I would kill to have the second image. Great work!

Android, I really liked that you tried to take it out of the desert, and i agree that a little more blending would've made your piece a lot stronger. Also a little more dynamic action would be nice, What Corrick did, was lead your eye in a direction with foreground mid-ground and background elements leading you're eye to the right.
Where as you're looks a little like your carpets are just hovering about the ground, and not really moving.

What? Why wasn't my entry included?

Si_Swe - Thanks!

Patonki - Unfortunately I didn't see the (final) underneath your image. Sorry about that. Next time can you make it a little more noticeable (in caps and bolded) and put it above your entry? I recieved some complaints about putting up incomplete entries in the poll last week so I didn't want to assume anything. Just realized yours said 'final' so it's not really applicable to you but it kind've led to this all the same. Will edit the poll in a sec.

No problem! I just thought I broke the guidelines somehow. Thanks!

What a pity that there aren't more etrnies.
My vote goes to corrick, because his entry is superior. The other two are good too, but corricks rocks.
And the second image is even better btw.

Voted for corrick as well. Great entries all around though!

I second the motion for some wallPaper versions of corricks ;).

Also, Corrick, if you read this thread, could you take a lOok at the questions I posed for you in the other WIP thread for this topic?
