Ok, this was the original color for the background...let me know what you guys think. Seems to work a little better than the cool color.

out of everything I really like the background the best!
Hell.. I would just like to see a landscape paintin' of that stuffs...
I do like the colors on the demon ...... but he looks off balance.. like he's not really standing up... he needs some some sorta pads on his feet... 'cause he's just balancin' on 5 points right now..

He is not really supposed to be standing, rather in the middle of taking a step...guess the pose ain't as strong as it should be. But screw it! Ya, the background came out alright, and the funny thing is that it was an afterthought...added the last minute. But I will have to leave the dude in this one, not fair to the character . Maybe will do a whole background piece later. ;)

The concept for this guy is awesome. I love his arms and face. Really awesome. I think if you go back and change the background you could change it to some dark cool colors...like bluish grey or something like that. Maybe not that color but something that would compliment the colors used in him. Awesome stuff man. I love it. I agree with the balance comment...maybe you could drop him into a larger piece where he is suspended by wires in a factory or something. Almost like an experiment of different parts put together. Hey can you post a close up of the mask. I would love to see how you rendered that mask.

MindCandyMan, you are giving me some good ideas...thanks dude! Per request, this is a closeup of the head. Basically painting light on dark. The above image shows the WIP. I filled a black shape (following the pencil sketch). Then added the midtones to bring out the smaller details, as in the top image. Finally, I used another layer to paint the highlights to bring out the details.
