nice stuff Legato
personally i'd say that your designs would become easier "readable" if you'd colour them - a set of grey tones would do the trick nicely to add depth
well, here's my contribution - i hope it fits the threads topic?

i know what yoru saying about color, and i probably would do more stuff if it wasn't for the fact that all my colors are done with marker. btw, that hover thing is great, is star-wars caliber stuff! just one thin i notice, maybe you could add a small shield to the rear gun for protection and maybe a low railing so you don't go falling out when you hit a bump or something

thanks for the critique Legato :) The Gunner could really use some more protection. I'll put in some more detail later on.
I hope you don't mind, but i just had to do a quick colouring of your exoskeleton.
It's done in photoshop - you could colour your designs that way after you've done the marker drawings, if you don't want to use markers to colour your pieces.

legato you probably already know about it but the wankel engine has a pretty well defined node like design that is proven on rotary engines, so it might help in your ratchet design thingy.

Sammy that spice harvester is a dirty, dirty machine. :D

the drawings that look like they need math make my head hurt.
Legato, you got some cool stuff going. keep studying those machines and you're gonna be pulling spaceships out of your butt in no time.
Sammy, your dedication to the process astounds me. My ADD seems to kick in before I can do many thumbnails. I do a few, and an idea really sticks me...and, the rest is my lousy history. Your drawings are great, but the thumbnails impress me way way more...
either or the both of you going to the workshop?

here is something i am particularly proud of. this is the first concept mech i've drawn up for a company called MPS (mecha propulsion systems)(website) (http://www.mechaps.com) they are a few die-hards based out of california who have been working on building a 2-legged walking multi-purpose mech. i know i didn't believe them when they first told me, but they have' been working on the computer architecture and physical design ideas for 4 years, and are finally ready to build the thing. a computer system has already been developed for computer aided movement and all that jazz. i was asked to work on images for concept and press release material. my next picture will be of a military variant, but for now, here is a modular construction type. we have no illusions of creating a military tank, but what we are doing is creating a multi-purpose machine for military use, so yes, light armaments will be included. at this point talk is going around over buying me a graphic tablet, but i don't want to think about it and get my hopes up. hopefully in a few years when i get into college, my computer modeling and animation skills will evolve enough to do that stuff. but in the mean time, i feel so adult :P. anyway, enough of that. this mech is a mark 1 type, that being a simple way to tell the leg joint system. this is based on a direct drive approach and would be fore the prototype, which would basically be shown off to support funds and the like. fully hydraulic movement is down the road quite a ways, but will ultimately be required for things such as say, space use :D. i am pumped!!! this was colored by prisma markers.
