Hey all,

I've been thinking about what demos I might like to do at the workshop and to keep it simple enough for all to understand. So I thought I would share with you some quick pics of me workin, no biggie. Just wondering If I will work on something very detail or loose like the first image here which took about 4 hours and would be good for a demo. Also figured to show you the pieces in their natural states rather then all digitally enhanced etc.

This guys was done on an 11x14 canvas board with an acrylic underpainting and finished in oils. The canvas is to rough for the type of detail I like to put but is very easy to work in and texture, I'll explain more at the workshop.

The images Below are me workin on a tighter painting, the brown sepia areas are the under painting which ofcourse will be painted in with oils.

I usually start off with larger brushes and whine down to smaller rounds, a good tip is to use your flats to lay color and your rounds to blend and and add detail. I'll explain more at the workshop which I know will be a blast!. Hope this gets you guys fired up to come.

Just added a piece that started out in my sketchbook and painted in Photoshop. See you at Austin.

Non digital work boys... Very very nice!. I prefer the digital coloring than the traditional but this work is really, really, good.
Did you start with a original sketch or you painted directly on canvas?

Right to the edge of the board. Braver than I. I always left a 2" or larger border. I miss oils. Nice stuff, wish I could attend.

Beautiful images. Dang, you need to post more shots like this, even after the workshop. Love to see the detail shots of the traditional work. Love to see some wip shots on these as well. Thanks for the post.

DANG! I was excited to see your name on the instructor list.

The painting of the children riding on the giant horse has amazing colors, great high-fantasy stuff (or are they pixies riding on a normal-sized horse?).

Can't wait to see your work in person.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and great to know many of you still dig oil paints, I dont know there something about oils and any natural media that is raw and powerful. The amount of colors you can create just by accident is worth the mess.

Make sure you guys bring a sketchbook or pad to jot down specifics for all the demos that will be going on from the instructors.
