yeah i was gonna say it didn't have to be a anti-war statement cause you could think wearing gas-masks would be cool. if you'd written on the chalk board "WAR SUCKS" then maybe you could call it anti-war or something.

i like it though.

EDIT: for crits the guy on the far left, his left knee[our right] seems funky.

its a good poke at surrealism. The perspective of the bottom of the left wall is off - it would meet the door a third of the way up....

also where is our eye supposed to go? Try to pull some more focus at a certain point. Then, if its surrealism, maybe not..

form- well as far as drawing in the viewer, i dont know much about that. (technically) but i was trying to make the small girl in the middle the focal point. if you could give me some tips it would be helpful... thanks

its called atmospheric perspective - to bring things forward, make them darker and more detailed.

to push them back make them fainter and less detailed.

Follow?

so would i need to make the objects further back less detailed and darker? and the opposite with the close objects?

no no

further back = LIGHTER and less detailed
further forward = DARKER and more detailed

think of it like when you look into the distance at the horizon. At the horizon line everything seems very faint and blurry, but stuff right in front of your face is very crisp.

Applying that to a piece and even exaggerating it makes it "pop" a lot more.
