before getting into the point; i'd like to take comments about a few pieces...

here's the first one, a gnome or something, roughed out with pencil, inked and erased the pencil (no ref. was used but i have a piece of tony diterlizzi in mind while drawing)
http://img17.photobucket.com/albums/v50/sandrue/gnome_ink.jpg

second one is some anatomy studies...

and now i'm getting to the point...

my biggest problem is impatience, most of the time. now as i'm going to overcome this, i'm planning to undergo a longer process than usual. no more "draw-before-everything-looks-correct" kinda work:P

what i'm asking of you is; make comments and critiques, make suggestions of overall design, even post thumbnails which you've lost interest in (i hope i'm not asking too much...) and i'll make LOTS of preliminary sketches before starting to draw the real piece.

the concept is some cyberpunk kinda character(most likely a "falloutish" feel to it), and here's some rough stuff i've made at class today.

i'd most appreicate any help you'd like to offer. thanks in advance:chug:

the feel of these is a bit cliche, dreads and skulls and all that, I don't know much about what you're after so this could be perfect for you, but I'd try something more original. Admittedly in a post apocalyptic world animal skins would be the most plentiful supply of clothing (so leather and fur would be worn to a fare degree) but metal would be reworked from original pieces and probably hand worked at that so it would be simple shapes.

the only real problem I have with your anatomy is your feet.

first of all, Brahmin are plainly brown. :P

secondly...the dreads thing is overdone. study real models and thats about it.

sylver--->hey, wouldn't it be lovely to see some white brahmin with pretty little black spot here and there :p ?

paddy---> well, that's why i've posted this thread; to have your ideas right; so thanks a lot for replying:chug: you're right about the cliche thing; i know they're all pretty overdone. will try to find some more original concepts; and...

here's a little bit more i've doen at school today (when the finals come, problems may occur :D )

here's even more; some kind of mutated/mutilated guy; quick sketch. this is also my first time digital stuff(!), sketched (about 5 min) with pencil and added color and shading (not much of it actually:D ; about 10 min) with photoshop. no tablet yet, have to use the mouse...

definately like this big guy the best. I'm digging his weaponry. But although it looks cool and I really think it does I think his blade weapon has some mechnical problems. First there is the mandatory string of uselessness. It's not holding anything together so in a fallout world thats probably considered a waste of resources. Then the blade part seems to be in place by two tiny rings. one swing and definately one hit and that blade would come flying off. Granted these are sketches and preliminary at that but thought I'd give some critique. Still like it the best. Characterwise I like the first post actually but he doesn't belong in a Fallout world. So this one wins.

and here's some real stuff. a mutie he is, almost finished inking the upper part (except the weapon, of course...). the lower part is going to be some kind of spiderlike robotic legs (three of them); i'm not sure so comments are welcome:chug:

that one that your inking now seems to be comming alone well, do you go from what you have in the lower half of the pic straight to ink or do you add more detail in pencil?

also can i just ask what you use to ink?

like the other pics alot!

good work

steiner---> thanks man:chug:
well, i usually draw as much detail as i can, before strating to ink. for this one i will do the same, as long as i am totally inexperienced drawing robotic stuff:) but sometimes i rough out the figure with a light marker and ink over it.
the pen i used was "pilot g-tec-c4" which is good for drawing very fine lines. other drawing materials i generally use are "faber-castell ecco pigment" or "artline drawing-system" (usually 0.1 and 0.4, sometimes 0.8)
thanks again, for the reply:chug:

the last one i'm giong to post on this thread...

the concept is: jury-rigged arm part of a looted power armor, helmet is directly inspired from fallout 2 and here it is; turned out quite well i think; c&c are welcome...

hey, thanks for the compliments:chug:
that was rather new (for me:)) kinda rendering style really, some kind of experimental work, i might say...
