I've been working on this picture for 2 months now. There are a lot of things I don't like about it still. But at some point I just gotta say "I'm done" and let it go.
This is the first time I have ever tried drawing/painting something like this. It has been an enormous learning experience for me.
This is nowhere near the quality of pictures I see around here. :xx: But for me...I have come a long ways.

Well if you have come along way then that is what is most important. I am not sure what you know or how you went about doing this, but I can give you some suggestions on how to keep improving. If you dont have one yet, I suggest getting a figure drawing/drawing from life book. Also try to collect refrences for what you want im your image, such as the correct stance that you would like to capture in your piece, or pictures of rocks and cliffs, etc etc. But now onto the image itself. The overall image is rather flat looking, if you want more dimensionality in your piece, you need to push your darks alot more. The lighting isnt too bad, your characters shadow might be off a bit, needs to be more to the right. The armor has a nice look to it, it looks like plastic, even though I am sure you want more of a metalic look, try to research some armor pics and see how it reflects. Another, try to stay away from using lens flares and other filters, yes people do debate about it, but at this stage, dont worry about putting them in, in my opinion I think they look cheesy and make the piece more computer looking. Its a no talent feature. I had a teacher who hated filters like that, and I also had a teacher who actually used lens flares in some of his pieces, he never over did the use of them though. Both of them were extremely talaented though. One thing that I think is really nice about this piece though, especially the character is that its a clean image. I hope this was helpful for you, just keep practicing and plugging away, along with research, you can learn alot. Keep it up.

Very good explanation..!.
Your first problem to solve, i think, itīs the perspective. See the clouds... seems with no relation with the character. First at all, make sure that your drawing is correct before painting.
taluego....
