Hopefully you will be able to see some sort of progression from the first day to the last. i
-i just felt like i was stagnating being away from the traditional media.

Incredible. Simply incredible!
Just 'cos I'm a cat waiting to be killed, what paper and what media are you using?
Again, great linework! And, I hope this doesn't offend you because it might not be true, but, I like how you kept going even after.... you made mistakes...? It looks like, in the post of the beast with the two maces, that you tried two different things with the arms and then just salvaged it.
Again, I hope I'm not offending you because it's meant to be a compliment. I usually stop working on a piece when I think I've ruined it instead of working on it harder. A bad habit I've been trying to break.
Keep up the good work! I'm definitely checking back daily to this thread!
(and if you want me to take down this message, just PM me.)

hey thanks for the critic everyone-
Aerythes > thanks the middles my fave too- i might do the rest of his body in a later version.
mr.right > yeah you were right i did try to salvage the drawing , i just couldn't let it go hehe. oh and i'm using regular A4 sheets from my printer, just cartridge paper i think, and a mechanical pencil with H2 lead. after i scan i add some minor things in Photoshop if i think it needs it- but i do like to keep the raw feel with most of my sketches and characters, makes them more alive i think.
nofingers > hey i hope so too :) fingers crossed lol
Brutillus > i really want to keep to my plan of a monster a day, so if i slack off i give you permission to kick me directly in the balls. - should we ever meet in person.

The further into the pit you get the more you don't want to disturb anything in the dark

it's regular white cartridge paper out of my printer- i messed with the brightness and contrast then added a detailing layer to give some hylights.

you enter a vast chamber on the 4th day- to be welcomed by the flightless pit dragon.

A unique looking dragon; tentacles for the mouth :D But I can't really make out what it's feet are like. ...Hooves?
Zeb
May 11th, 2004, 09:16 AM
Honestly, if you hadn't said, I never could've guessed this was done on printer paper with a mechanical pencil. And that, is amazing.
Solid work man, solid.
Only ten more days, sigh, how sad.
alti
May 11th, 2004, 10:03 AM
Aerythes > yeah the tentacles came in as an afterthought while i was sketching the face, the feet were origionally going to be hooved, but then i added an under folded claw, it's not well acheived there, hmm. thanks for the comment anyway.
Zeb > hey thanks man- yeah ten more days, it's an awsome insentive to keep sketching and working inbetween freelance stuff. (beats watching tv)-
hey if anyone has any freelance work available my land lady would really appreciate it :) - so i can pay her (she don't need the work herself lol )

Wow. You are one twisted, and TALENTED, uh, person.
The best part about these is that, while many of them share some common features, they are all very unique. That, and they would scare the life out of anyone that found one.
Solid man, keep em' coming.

thanks Aerythes-
yeah i blame that to lack of imagination on my part- i left it white for a while then thought when i changed it there was something not quite right- this way he stays pure, a cool contrast against the enemies.

you've obviously got the skills to do a comic out of your pit monsters... DO IT!
keep that day1 day 2 .... day 12 timeframe, and stuff... uhm... not the person to say much today but if you'd set it up loosely like nihei's "blame" where some adventurer wanders through some dungeon it'd be lots of fun to read... well... yes ;)
alti

Something is not quite right- there is a precence lurking in your wake as you enter one of the final hollows of the pit-
something stalks you from the mirky depths, it has been with you for a while- most likely picked up your scent from your beasts of burdone that carry your supplies.
An arrow splits your party in two and skewers one of your beasts- the hunter is revealed.
http://members.optusnet.com.au/alti3/studio/loexppaint.jpg
a little more fun :)

skid > i thank you for the comment, this pit beast journey has been alot of good practice for me- i think the next 2 week project will take us far out of the pit and into the sky,
or i might wright up a small story and just go with it.
- i'm open for suggestion but i really need to step out of the pit for a week or 2 and into another project. need a catchy title.
thanks for checking my site too. -
