can I and if so, how do I make a layer transparent. Like I'm just messing around doing a drawing and bringing it over from photoshop and making basically a collage. I want some transparency in there...how do i do this?

Set the image object's "ALPHA" value to an amount of your liking...

But whatever you're making transparent should be an object and not just a scene element...
