Looks great. But why not go ahead and center the text. The composition of the piece calls for it I think. I could be wrong. I like the soft glow, as well. Nice work

The image is great, though the fact that this is a propaganda poster means that the text should be much bigger (The image and words are supposed to grab you, not image alone).
However, why not try at a British one? Simply put the British had more desperate fights than the Americans...Battle over Britain anyone?

Thanks Janshi,
I've since dropped the lettering...in all honestly it was thrown in their last minute! Me being a huge admirer of World War II (not the war itself but just the shear scope and importance historically) I would love to do more "proper propaganda poster!!" I was thinking of doing some Japanese, British, and maybe even a German one...
I appreciate the feedback. Cheers

dyoung: I am American :P Just living in Britain, and so that means I have an up close history. I can literally see the buildings that got bombed (and got renovated)! :D Yeah, americans participated, but mostly in small one's or two's, since they were on transfer from America. It were the British that mainly suffered.
Yeah, Battle of Midway was fierce, but shouldn't that mostly be naval craft then? Fighters played a part, but it was the ships that were doing the most damage...
sidious: Japanese, British and German posters? Sweet, that would look so cool! Can't wait to see these!

Janshi: in the Midway Fighters played a Huge part! alot of the ships in the Pacific were Carriers :chug:

Hey Janshi- Wow it must be very interesting to be able to see the actual buildings that suffered in the BOB, I love history and would love to someday see the battlefields of the past. Yeah I suppose Midway was a little different than BOB, although both sides relied heavily on fighers and fighter bombers. Either way both sides suffered. What a waste eh?

gorgeous image, nice colors to compliment the linework and composition. and what a sigh i had at it NOT being more anti-american cra- subject matter. the wording is good, but would have more effect if it was understated. semi-transparent white as if it were his thought.

Ok letting a way the political stuff for a moment (i'm not gonna comment that part )
some thoughts
1. i like the colour ,i really do ,but aren't they a bit bright for the most probaganda have darker colours ,to let them look more seriously and to deliver the feeling of menace and fear .even with the look of the pilot ,i get a mostly happy impression from the pic.
2.i'm not sure about the position of the pilothead ,with him in the center it looks very static ,moving him more to the right could give the picture more energetic or dynamic and he would not just look in the emty space above him ,he he would look at the flag
3.the flag is very soft ,since many of the propaganda is about patriotism or nationalism the flag should have much stronger colours to be a main part of the picture
4. i wouldn't center the lettering cause the picture would get more static again, the left corner is ok ,i think , so you could look from the flag left top to the face right middel to the lettering left bottom ,maybe the letters should be a bit bigger but i'm not sure .
5.if you move the lettering up a bit you could cut off the second flag(i'm not sure if the second flag is a good idea since propagand sould not be too complex) and make the picture postcard format.
ok that's my 2 cents hope you don't mint of course it's only based on my personal opinion therefor it can be ignored
p.s. oh i almost forgot beside the colour i also like your pencils of the head and the rendering of the materials ,nice

Agreed, it is a sweet pic. Also: not only did planes play a large part in the battle of midway, they played the ONLY part. The battleships in both the fleets never got in range of each other. In fact, the only time battleships have engaged each other in a large fleet engagement was in World War One durring the battle of Jutland, (if I'm not mistaken). Anyway, thats your history lesson for the day.
