this is my first post, im not really much of a painter, i generally stick to my pencil and a 3d program but i felt it was time to learn. i could use some help getting more of a loose style. i just plain feel tight when im painting and cant seem to get away from blending all my stokes. any suggesstions would be very welcome.http://www.visualwerx.com/Images/Dump/Derek.jpg

uh yeah, well i ve discovered that the only way to fix my problem is to paint more. so thanks myself............

Nice work :) I can't really offer any technical help/suggestions, as I'm a novice, but I have to say that the eyes in that picture are beautiful, they have life and emotion in them, which is a very hard thing to achieve.
Wish I could be a bit more help, but all I can really say is to keep at it, practice makes perfect :D

ive been using the digital airbrush, and a liquid brush that pulls color from the underlying layer, i really like the effect it gives, but for loose painting i dont think theyre a good choice.
the more ive been painting lately the more loose im gettin which your right jens is do to using mostly normal paint brushes. hopefully ill get this on the finished art thread soon

hey werx try painting with the oil pastel brush...it's under dry media with the chalks and stuff...don't use anything to blend it...see how it turns out. That is a great tool.
