i do a lot of catwomen, and i'd really like to send a beginning of a graphic novel and illustrations to DC... but they don't allow people to send any work.

someone got an idea how to make them see?

thanks! :)

These are really great. They have so much character to them. I love the color scheme too. The second one has an excellent 3d feel to it. Really looks like I am looking through glass. My only criticism is on the second one. I can't really tell what's going on around her hands. Is that the material from what she is wearing. The rubber looks really good...looks shiny. Great job.

Really like the bottom piece. Great sense of lighting! The background reminds me of some of Moebius' work (which I really dig).

So sweet,Bengal.Post more:)
As for DC,it is strange that they don`t allowe
people to send their work.As I hear, every big Comic
publisher in USA seek from new artist to send 4-5 B&W
(or colored)pages with their characters(like you did Catwoman)
and they like to see, beside art skill, good storytell-ing ability.
And thay don`t like to see just pin-up`s without comic pages.
I saw requests like that on Image site,DarkHorse(thay have
interesting conc. right now)WildStorm, but that was some time
ago,so I don`t know is it still valid.I cant remember for DC.
Anywayz I hope you will succeed, your Catwoman is very
cool and different(in a good way).
Best luck.

I really like your stuff. Your website is also full of beautiful things.

As for being a comic artist, you have lots of interesting character designs. Why not just start making comics? You had some pages on your site, but nothing finished. Make them short, like eight pages, print them out and throw them at people. Drop them off at comic book stores. Pimp yourself at conventions, if you can get to them (a lot of people get noticed this way). Post online versions of them too. All of this takes time and money unfortunately :). But with stuff of your caliber, if you organize it into a cohesive form and throw out enough lines, I think you'll get a bite eventually.

Not much to add, but I almost fell off my chair over that second picture.

Loga4 is giving you generic submission rules, but these don't apply to all companies. I assume DC has adopted a 'no unsolicited submissions' policy? The way around that is to get them to ask you for a submission. Unfortunately I don't really have any advice on how to do that. I understand some companies expect to see artists bringing in work to conventions, and then, if they see your stuff there, they might ask you to submit. Certainly there must be other ways of getting your work seen, especially if you're not even on the same continent as the company you're interested in contacting.

Tedsuo's comments make sense. Dave Sim addressed the issue of submitting comic book ideas about established characters. In fact, he used batman as his example. His advice went along the lines of, 'If you want to draw batman, make up a name and a similar character and just publish the damn thing'.

thanks,

agpaoa, that's exactly the point : they subscribed to the 'no more unsollicited submissions', which i could understand : DC is a world wide known company. tedsuo and you, and loga have a good idea, presenting it at comics conventions, but i live in paris france...

i only have to find how to make them see, then show them the 4 pages i already sketched (which i can finish in less than a week colorized), and see what they say : i may not be selfconfident enough to hope a 'yes' but, just have them give an advice could be a big beginning i think. i'm almost published here in france, i've completed a 46 pages graphic novel, so i'm used to comics, i may have my try.
just wait and see, anyway big big thanks for the support, it helps!

here is one i did this morning :

I've been familiar with your work for a while so I thought I'd reply. You got a great style going for you. I really like the flesh tones you use, especially on faces. A little red and some sharp highlights really do go a long way!

I also noticed that you're a fellow Painter user. I hope I'm not intruding when I ask this, but I was wondering if you'd mind telling us what brushes you used. All of your work seems to share a consistant style and feel to it, so it would seem that you found something good and are sticking to it.

Again, great work.

Hey you already have a graphic novel under your belt? That's great! I hope it gets published here as well.

Seriously, the only thing left for you to do is secure some face time. I know it's expensive, but get your ass to Comicon in july and sign up for a portfolio review by DC.

Why not make your own character in a graphic novel, and get it published by an independant publisher.

I know, It's not the same:(

Great work! Follow everyones advice and go to a comic con, preferly the one in San Diego.
