Spartan Camp #194 - 50 gestures + Optional "Knee Anatomy Study"

The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 28th of August.

- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you!

- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Knee Anatomy Study", in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:

This week, we will focus on a specific are of the human body for the optional study. Knees.

Why knees?
Knees are not easy to draw because their anatomy is fairly complicated. Still, the underlying structures are very visible from the outside. With a study of the anatomy and workings of the knee, we can easily establish a good base of knowledge for our future gestures.

[to be updated with reference]

Use of reference very much advised! Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you! Good luck and have fun! And feel free to ask questions!

50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.

Criticizing each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference images and resources!! Let's help each other get better!

Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

I did these so far. I'm in my "great struggle after skipping several days" period, it felt unusually strange but hopefully it's over now, more will come :D

I had fun with this kitty but I rushed it in the end:

I've seen a few studies on these forums that show the knee as an abstract ball in a hinge. What source is that from?

Hey what's with this topic? I'm used to more stuff!

I decided to buy a house so I felt well this week, I hoped I will draw more but it didn't happen. I have only these for now:

My digital 3/4 view face sketches is too bad but I had fun with this stylized one (it's a lil competion between Lightship69 and me btw, the topic is "surprised elderly woman"). It's one of the "it has just happened" doodle of mine, it's rare. I didn't think much, I just painted for a while :D Stupid frilly nighty :(

Abandoned (and cropped because I still suck at hair) face:

Referenced. I just can't draw the eyes, the original is so great, I guess it's about some very subtle stuff:

I painted the baby ear for the 4th time... Oh yeah I almost always used a pressure sensitive opacity hard brush. It has its limits, I badly need to use others and figure out blending...

It just happened, huh? Looks pretty damn good shiNIN!

Courses kept me busy these days, here's just a few figures, concentrated on the knee rendering.
Took one a bit further, but i still don't like my values. Need more practice.

BlackDelphin: Thanks :) Too bad I rarely doodle playfully...
Sweet figures, the second girl has an unfortunate body type, all fat on the bottom parts... Hm, I knew a girl once who had that anime legs you used on the last picture. I never knew before people actually do that :D

I'm waiting for the new thread, I already have a bunch of hands :D
