This looks pretty good, I think your girlfriend will definately enjoy this.
Something about the eyes bothers me, maybe they are too far apart?
Also, the hair on the left side (her right) looks too pointy. Unless that's how the picture looked, you may want to soften the edges up by curving them, or something.
Nice job on this.

the right eye&eyebrow (her left) seems to be stretched towards upper-right of the picture. other than that, looks good
keep up man:chug:

nice job!
the facial tones are well done,
however, theres a huge value shift from the shading of the face to her eyebrows and eyes, and then continued with her hair and clothing.
its not neccesarily a bad thing but if your aiming to make your portraits even more realistic, its something to keep an eye on

mos - thanks for the comment. the hair looks pointy because those are the lights cast on her hair. in the pic, her hair blended in with her black sweater, so i couldn't tell where her hair ended
sandrue - thanks for the comment
silver - thanks for the comment. yea, i always thought that her face was way too light for the whole picture. it might be from the flash on the photo because there is very little shadow cast on her face.
