Hey NickyB - Nice sketches dude! Hmm good question *scratches chin* I think what I had in mind was the full on upstanding Good Guy 'Hero of the people' vibe rather than the odd or tortured soul type... I say if in doubt then probably not but it's up to you buddy :mod: - can be lesser known but their drive/aim/persona is upholding good!
Examples of vibe:
Thor
X-Men
Hulk
Batman (+ associated 'Bat' characters)
Fantastic 4
Spiderman
Wonderwoman
Captain America
Superman
Bananaman
Dangermouse
Popeye
etc!
Feel free to add Fun / Comedy to the piece too! :rocker:

I may wip something up after other obligations are completed (or abandoned due to laziness or forgetfulness)! Superheroes are always cool, and I haven't really drawn any in a while....plus all the Avengers stuff going on in the movie theaters is also getting me excited, only question is, which one to draw? hmmmm....

i was so excited to sketch something for this but during my break i just had no motivation to lift a pencil and now im back to deadlines and long schooldays again :(
at least gonna try get in a sketch or two this weekend D:
does cybersix count as a super good guy? or the powerpuff girls? x) or does it have to be like marvel or dc comic heroe types?
The7Artist7
September 8th, 2011, 02:56 PM
Sure - haha yep they look like good guys to me with super type powers / vibe :P
I'll change the deadline to 'open' until I can verify who is up for submitting something. It can be something quick just enjoy yourself and be really dynamic! :D

:( I'm shamefully bad at saying I'll participate and then getting totally unmotivated. There was a Ted talk (I can't find it now) that pretty much said 'if you want to get anything done, don't tell anyone about it!' lol

...'if you want to get anything done, don't tell anyone about it!' lol
Hahaha how true! Please don't worry just anything will be fine so long as it's fun, super and an attempt at dynamic-ness!
Here.. I'll scribble something quick to demonstrate (even though it's middle of the night and I should be sleeping!)

Haha cheers, that's pretty cool. I'll say that I'll practice gestures every day, but if I do then i won't...so I won't :P
Decided to go with Wonder Woman...took the picture on my phone camera and it's squished it a bit. I'll scan her in properly and tweak things tonight if I've time (going to see Troll-Hunter..yay!)

oh, this sounds awesome! I don't think I'll be adding a finished piece but I'd like to share a semi-quick sketch I did for fun. It wasn't until I was nearly done that I realized I chose Flash, of all characters, to be, uh, not very dynamic.

AIuk cool! Uh Oh Wonder woman ain't looking pleased! Your comic/figure style would really suit Adobe Illustrator :) A lil constructive feedback is it might add to the dynamism if her left foot was forward and right back adding more tension ... but then again is she maybe dynamically sneaking up on a villain!? - KA-THWIP!
hueonpao - thanks for joining in! Hahaha love it! Super Dynamic sketch - love the use of humour as a basis for dynamism.

Hi guys, first time posting on this forum!
I hope I'm going in the right direction with this.
I spotted this exercise and thought it a good chance to learn to draw more dynamically, more energy and life to my scribbles (:
Ok, so I'm using an iPad here, to draw and browse, but I can't seem to upload a pic anywhere, any ideas how to go about this?
:edit: the attach button doesnt work, cause it won't let me "upload from hdd" the upload button is faded out so I can't click it!?!?! :/ so much angry

Hey Billytron! Firstly welcome to the forums :yayca: Hope you enjoy your time here - any questions just ask. Unfortunately iPad is something I've never used (I do work on an iMac though) ... I think your best bet is ask over at the support section: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=118
Look forward to seeing some art from you! Another thing you could do once you sort out your attachment issues is start up a sketchbook in the sketchbooks section :lounge:
Rumpen - Cool! Great job! Nice dynamism in the angle too!! *thumbsup*

Wowzers this Challenge has shuddered to a standstill! - ok guys time to submit something 'final' be it a sketch or more complete - if you don't do anything more but have already submitted a sketch I'll take your last submitted piece as your final - lets say Sat 15th deadline! :D
Here's a bit more work on my rough Batman scribble :)

I know I'm late but i'm gonna get involved in this. It's about time I challenge myself. Btw, is it cool if we use reference for the poses? If I invented a pose myself it would take generations to get right...
The7Artist7
October 13th, 2011, 10:17 PM
Hey Flanagan welcome! Yep references are a great way to help get a pose sometimes - just do your best to push the dynamism - and so long as you're not making an exact copy etc etc ... and have FUN! look forward to seeing your piece :)

Hiya! Sorry I disappeared there, been quite busy recently. Thanks The7Artist7 for extending this.
So here's Aeon Flux as my final, Wonder Woman wasn't working, this one seems a bit looser, I drew it without reference which I think helped, I can become a slave to it if I'm not careful. I could have pushed the view into something more extreme I think though with more foreshortening. Dunno, what do you guys think?

Just watched Thor so New sketch!
If anyone is thinking they missed the deadline dont worry just post something soon as you can - even better let me know you intend to and I'll wait for you - If not then ya'll got until I tidy this piece up a bit! Great ideas so far everyone! :yayca:

Hey guys, decided to do a piece since i'm practicing dynamic poses.
Domino's suppose to be diving forward, though it feels un-dynamic to me :[
Crits regarding anatomy, foreshortening and how to make the picture more dynamic are greatly appreciated! :)
Flanagan
October 18th, 2011, 10:37 AM
Looks pretty good, man. There's only so much we can tell you. My experience as an artist is that I had to find MY OWN solutions for my problems by drawing a lot. When people say drawing is a slow learning process and takes time that's an understatement. Anyways, some of the foreshortening is good like her left hand, the guns and her right arm. The torso looks correct too but the legs seem they'd be bigger at that angle. Her right arm looks like she doesn't have a shoulder. Maybe lower it and stretch it out more to include her shoulder. Her left arm looks flat. You see those three dash lines you used to indicate the placement of the shoulder? Make those dashes more curved so it looks like that arm is a cylinder. As for making it more dynamic, maybe you could have drawn her hair blowing in the wind as she's diving foward, or a different angle of the same pose. It's a good drawing, man, looks like you really put some effort in it. Keep it up!
Particle Man
October 19th, 2011, 09:56 AM
Thanks for the inputs Flanagan! Yep, the shoulders really gave me a hard time :( I'll be doing some more exercises for anatomy/foreshortening in that case. I was also trying to add some hair movement, but kept making her look like a super saiyan so i opted for the more simple one :)

Hey hey guys n gals! Blargh sorry I've been gone for so long - but I have made time to get a decent sketch together - maybe my final piece for this challenge in the interests of not having it drag on forever!
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1349887&d=1319476726
BUT! I'd like to ask everyone now - would y'all like more time to enter a piece / work on your image or would you like me to wrap things up and take whatever your last submitted pieces were to the poll?
Great work peoples - some really dynamic stuff!
I agree with Angel - great Rorschach Flanagan! Nice dynamic pose and setting giving a feel of impending action!
Hey Particle Man - thanks for joining in! Nice dynamic piece and great to see you pushing things - Quick paintover.. I'd say overall not much wrong with it - very much on the right track! I'd advise looser sketches before committing to any final lines, play around with a stick type skeleton to ground anatomy and check out reference pics if needed - Gymnasts come to mind for this. It can be helpful to add some background to show how awesomely dynamic your character is being! And dynamic light source is a great tool for spicing up a situation! :anime:
Hope that's helpful! :mod:

Hiya Mr Artist7..Thanks for the trailer, someone else posted it last year and I've been trying to remember what it was called. :) and gymnasts, why didn't I think of that? I'm going to do some studying this weekend, been busy with a 9 person caricature commission this last couple weeks so it's been hard to find time to do anything else, I'm also afraid if I try and neaten up the Aeon Flux pic I did she will look more static (I tend to do that) so that can be my final if you think it's good enough :D but I do want to get better at this dynamic stuff so any critique would be awesomely awesome...your awesomeness :D (Great Thor btw!)

Here's a sketch! I don't typically like the goodie-two shoes muscle heads, so my submission theme is a bit geeky and sarcastic. ;) Kudos if you recognize them at this stage!
It's not terribly dynamic though, but I might finish it anyway just for kicks!

An update on my Spidey venom piece, I'm a little stumped how to approach the background; skyscraper, industrial factory, laboratory, or just on the streets as pedestrians and vehicles are passing by? ....hmmm...
and in case you were wondering, I have a hard time drawing the webbing on spiderman's suit so I'm leaving that for later, so frustrations don't delay me...

Hey guys n gals great to see more entries! However it would be great to get this challenge (probably the longest running by now) to the poll stage so encourage everyone to get their pieces to the stage they're happy with :painting: Mostly I just need to be given an idea of how long you think it'll be? A day or two? A week? Let me know and we can decide on a final deadline! :yayca:
Angel - yep keep pushing the dynamism! :D
LaurenWilsonArt - Haha nope I haven't got a clue (and I did try to figure out who they are!) Look forward to your final piece :)
Rob - nice progress - why not got nuts with the setting! He could be climbing down a building or along the ground or the roof of a car - or upside-down on the underneath of a bridge! Also I'd say watch out for the angle of his hands - looks like they're against a surface that isn't at the same angle... almost like he's placing his fingertips on 45degree ledges... hope that makes sense!
And remember everyone have fun being as dynamic as possible! :painting:
