View Full Version : trouble adjusting to digital painting

i just recently started painting digitally and i'm having a pretty rough time. does it take a while to get used to using a wacom? i have a hard time drawing contour lines or anything delicate. anyone have any tips on adjusting?

i had quite a difficult time adjusting to it. i think i'm doin much better now though. i do have trouble though drawing really delicate lines and contour lines. i have to use really small strokes to get what i want.

as for getting used to the wacom, my problem was that it was initially weird to not look at my hand while drawing. one thing that got me a little bit on track was i took a picture of myself, brought it into photoshop, popped a layer on top of it and just went ahead and started tacing the outlines of the face and features.. it actually was a big help to get me used to it. then i went in and painted it. it was, i think a good stepping stone. i have heard of a lot of people not even sketching in photoshop, they draw traditionally then scan it into photoshop and proceed to painting and coloring. its all preference, i prefer to do it all in photoshop. Just keep working at, try to paint somthing everyday. good luck!
