hey, ill be honest, i dont really care for anime or DBZ, but as far as you drawing the characters i think u nailed it, so i cant really crit. they look how they should, u should make up ur own character, that would be cool.

I proudly agree with gasmask....i used o like DBZ and that was what got me into drawing...but later i realized how stupid DBZ is it sucks! the characters are too deformed by shapes..like big heads and ears for example and i bet Akira Toriyama was a little mental to create such stupid ideas for a peices of manga and anime...the only good anime out there are anime u have never seen before..unless u know how to download it from animeone on mIRC....i suggest u get into making upr your own anime characters or whatever..it'll be more fun! also Naruto is way better the stupid DB series....:D

Good call fozzy....

Anyhoots..

that last comment was unecessary.

although, I'm not cheering for Dragon Ball Z, I'm not a fan myself, but there's no need to point fingers and start jeering people on what they draw. Sure, its not what we want to see. But chacnes are dragon ball Z cartoons or comics inspired him to draw same as us with our comic book heroes or idolized master painters and artists.

Don't scrutinize where he's getting his motivation and inspiratation to draw. Just because what he draws isnt what we would draw ourselves. doesn't mean he's not entitled to draw.

As for the pictures, I'll agree that you hit the nail on the head with the characters, but then again, there's only so much you can do with the "DBZ art". I think you're pretty much ok with the DBZ art, time to move on to something more productive and educational.

Anime is mostly, exaggerated anatomy and fantasy-inspired if you dwell on it too long, it might hinder your progression towards realistic drawing, try to stop the habit before it becomes a habit.

I reccommend life drawing and figure drawing. Study up on anatomy and try to find your own style in drawing, discover what makes you... YOU in your art. If you want to keep drawing DBZ, go for it. But as you can see posting it here will cause trouble, but if you'd like to keep posting, go for it. Make your own thread and post in it. As for those who don't appreciate the art he outputs, if you have nothing good to say, then don't say anything.

If you have something constructive and wholesome to say that would help him grow as an artist and person, then do say something.

VenomGirl, if you'd like someone to have a look at any art you make, especially this kind of art and would like to avoid being verbally thrashed, I'm open for discussion.

Let's stop the childish antics.

and this has to do with her thread how?
you have made sure to crit her choice in entertainment but not her art.. if you want to discuss good or bad anime go to the lounge.

Sexyvenomgirl, from looking at a couple of your threads i suggest you try focusing on anatomy a bit more, you have good jist of it but i think your artistic abilities would really shine if you put energy in that direction.

personally i think copying a house style like that of dbz will weaken your art in general as the style in itself has alot of exagerations in anatomy, and sometimes is just plain off.
but 2 each his own

edit
srry if it comes off strong i was typing my response as artisant was typing his it seems ,

Un called for and ...if you actually read the forum you will "see" from her "make me into art" thread that SVG is not a kid :) ...

DBZ as stated is not the best art to imitate or copy .. however saying that, these are very good at what they do ... they do have the style and characer of DBZ and for that no crits from me. Very decent fan art. :)

Maybe try somthing a bit more challanging from the anima collection, maybe Spirited Away or other films of that class.

Kay.

Dragon Ball is one of the few cartoons where you cant really import different styles without missing the point... good picture

yeah, sorry. I pretty much hate dbz too. so I don't know if you can call this "fan-art", but I did my take on a dbz character - if that helps. your drawings are nicely done, though.

Thats a very nice drawing!!!
Ok i basically don't like DBZ myself but they were just things i was in the mood to draw! plus my ex-boyfriend always wanted me to draw DBZ for him so these are the ones i drew for him. But ok you people need to judge how i am drawing, i didn't want anyones opinion on how much they hate DBZ, so get your priorities straight. Not being mean, its just a stupid little thread i made. Sorry for the inconveinence!:bash:

yeah! you rock, girl. that's telling 'em. :) I personally don't know anything about dbz. I don't have time to draw much either, but I'm taking some life drawing classes. Maybe if I muster up enough courage I'll post some sketches. Sanejack's been teaching me a few things too. Your stuff's good, tho - keep it up!

:hothead: -hey, this kinda looks like dbz, right?

whatever.... I like DBZ and I like anime... although the whole Freeza saga was really good and the rest is not, I got alot of ideas out of the series and I really like the artist style of drawing.

And, there is alot of fan art in here and nobody says anything about it. What I'm trying to say is... CONSTUCTIVE CRITS people !!!

Nice copies...
Watch the anatomy, some of it is off; even for DBZ.
The lines are a little stiff and stale, on the last two especially. The lines could flow a little better. In addition, some line weight would really help them out.

I'd enjoy them alot more if they weren't just carbon copies. I can watch the cartoon for that. They're ok for what they are though.

Bo freaking whooo, it seems as though every one in this form hates anima I think its just cuz it’s so dam popular now and you’re all like well that’s just freaking great waaaaaa, and you’re all just mad that something so simple can be such a hit, it’s like bevies and butthead or south park I mean they kinda piss me off cuz I’m like crap if that can bring in money what the hell am I doing working my ass off with proportions and shit.
Well for one I love anima it has wicked energy shallow but fun characters although some characters have some depth, example my new number 1 Naruto great story and the characters are wicked to.
I’ll post some DBZ soon cuz DBZ was my old fav and I’m still a big buff of it lol, I don’t care what anyone says and if you don’t like it I’ll go super sayain on your ass.

Pics to come ( Vegita he’s my hero)

OPINION

Main Entry: opin·ion
Pronunciation: &-'pin-y&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French, from Latin opinion-, opinio, from opinari
1 a : a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter b : APPROVAL, ESTEEM

3 a : a formal expression of judgment or advice by an expert b : the formal expression (as by a judge, court, or referee) of the legal reasons and principles upon which a legal decision is based

I'm sure you wouldn't want anyone to say what your thoughts on anime are wrong, so have the common sense to at least respect the thoughts of others.

its not so much that we dont want you to state your opinion, do it all you want, just in the proper place.
right now this thread is to post dbz fan art and crits on that fan art. NOT to post crits or opinions on what the fan art is based on.

btw saying crap, i hate dbz fan art in a dbz fan art thread is considered trolling, if you dont like dbz DONT post here.

sanejack, thats a pretty neat take on the premise

did u copy from original pictures? cause i used to do that alot...copied from pictures of my favorite characters and things from DBZ back in 5th and 6th grade. copying from stuff is good practice and that is what everyone mostly does as a beginner and then when u get good at drawing you mostly draw from memory or referrence. in the beginning DBZ was my reference as a beginner. try drawing something new like cowboy bebop, trigun, hellsing, or Naruto.:D
