I've been tasked with creating some backgrounds for a 2D RTS. With my little experience playing them, i know the terrain in these games is made out of small tiles that come together to form larger compositions, and i assume they must all mesh perfectly when assembled, in order to create something believable.

I've been searching for resources online on how to go about making these, but so far, i've found nothing on the subject. Does anyone reading this have any experience or know-how of the method/technique(s) used for elaborating these?

Thank you.
