WOW! I managed to post an image (see image test thread!!) Okay, now my slow brain has caught up with the rest of mankind, here are some of my Alien paintings. None of these have been published, they were all done for fun, but a few were private commissions. Hope a few of you like 'em dudes!!!

Cheers Fozzy! These are all painted using high grade water colours. (I used to use cheapo ones, but they get 'muddy' really quick if you mix 'em too much) I then pick out the highlights with white gouache before scanning them into Photoshop for a final bit of colour correction. The last one.. the blue one was an interesting example of why traditional painting is so exciting and surprising. For some reason after I'd prepared the paper, it became very 'fluffy' hance I was finding it hard to maintain any really crisp lines or edges: the paper just soaked up any paint I applied and blotted it, making my brush strokes irregular and blotchy. I decided to work around this, and the result is a painting that is unlike any I've done before or since. It's surprises like this that will keep me painting traditionally rather than digitally.. I just love it! :D

I've said this before but I'll say it again. You have very original interpretations of the alien. All of them are very cool and the ammount of twisted organic detail you use really brings them to life.
If I were to crit on anything though it'd just be the backgrounds, which certainly don't detract from anything. It really has most to do with the blury digitally enlarged look contrasting against that encredably sharp drawing you have in front of them. The first alien you've posted doesn't have this and it seams much more straight forward and painterly. Again though, it's certainly nothing serious and it may be just me (as I'm notoriously afraid of complicated backgrounds on cencept pieces).
Again, outstanding work. If Darkhorse had actually used art like this in their last alien books instead of those mediocre crossovers with superheros, people might actually buy them again.

i love that your style shows in the aliens but some of them looks kinda over the top and it gets a little to much of the goodies.
but then im a nitpicking fuck that no one should listen to.
superb stuff

Good job!
I really like Giger's work but in some ways I wish he utilized color more. I think you really have captured the original ideas of Giger and gone a slightly different and great direction!
I love the flow of the curved tails.
Like Giger you do an excellent job of believable organic bits and chunks mixed with bone spurs and the like. Very cool!!

fair point Crash. When I was painting a lot of these I was trying really hard to cram in as much as I could... I think I'm learning restraint, so if I do another one then hopefully you should see a difference!!!!

There is some humor in your aliens, I really like it.
I don't like the tribal tatoo on the woman (actually, I don't like tribal tatoos anymore), it break the picture.
There is a problem with her anatomy, if the right shoulder is up, the hips goes in the other way.
Anyway, nice work, go on !

Crapolla! Sorry dudes, but I think my website has exceeded it's... er... bandwidth or something. (I dunno the technical stuff.. something to do with too many hits or something...) anyway, it's broken my website for the time being, so I have to buy some more... er... something or other and it'll work again. Hopefully it'll get sorted out tonight or tomorrow, so the Aliens and other thoroughly awful things on there will be available for your down-loading pleasure.
Gawd... my lack of Web-site savvy is not encouraging is it?? It's not just the internet I'm crap at understanding either; it's ANYTHING technological!!! I can't even set the video recorder. Heck, using the toaster is pushing it......
..Anyway, I'll probably post up a fresh link when it's sorted out, if folk are still interested of course.... :chug:

Yes, we are.
BTW, try photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com). It's a free image hosting site, and you don't have to worry about getting too many hits.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I hadn't seen these, and you know what they say...If you haven't seen it, it's new to you, er, me! These are sickly good, man. I'd like to see some original designs too...maybe I will find them if I poke around a bit. Great stuff!
