Ok.... I finished this today, have worked on it for a couple of days, not sure how long it took.
I haven't looked at anything while making it; this is all from my brain without references.
Made it on the Wacom tablet with PS. This time I have used no filters and no layer effects, just pure drawing(mentioning this because in my first submission here, I used filters and layer effects).
Although I consider myself finished with it, I'd still value your comments and criticisms. :)
You've heard the phrase "Angel eyes"....
Well....this is "Angel ears". :D
Not sure what species/race she is, all I know is it's a she.
Don't look into her eyes for too long; she'll hypnotize you....
:)

Thanks for commenting. :)
The light is also coming in from the side, not only from behind, so I don't think it's too shiny myself.
I didn't say she's an angel, I just used the name angel ears, 'cause I first called it "winged ears", but thought angel ears sounded better. As I said, I don't know what species she is.
So she can look evil if she wants to.
IMO she just looks relaxed. Maybe scrutinizing the person looking at her..
As for the shoulders... Yeah, I could agree on that.
Hadn't noticed myself.
Personally I think it goes along with the look on her face though. http://home.online.no/~johmoe/smilies/dunno.gif

Shoulders are not too bad. Look around. Some people do have shoulders that low.
I noticed the eyebrows appear to cut across the eyelids.

Did you mean eye lashes?
Could you please elaborate in that case, 'cause the eyes looked a bit different in an earlier version. Maybe I was more correct then.
I wanted to make big, wing-like eyelashes.
Thanks for the input. :)

I think he is talking about the eyebrows. Those things are so sharp the could cut through glass. She seems to have no debt to her face. It looks like the nose is barely on there. She has no eye socket. I think it would help if u were to look at loomis' planes of the head. I don't know where to find them except for in his books. but she looks very flat. And I also agree with her looking vsry shiny. Not enough contrast.
Sorry for being so hard on. Just tryin to help u out!:)

Thanks again for commenting.
Well, as you can see from the shape of the head, she is some kind of alien race; she almost has an 'alien grey' head shape. So she's not human, but maybe close to it...?
(no human has wings for ears after all...)
Not sure how I should give the face more depth though. You think I should give her some cheekbones by adding some shadow there? Make the shadows stronger?
And I'll work on the eyes, I think I see now what I have to do. Although being an alien race, her eye sockets are larger than a humans.
I'm not saying this to explain away the problems; I'll look into the points mentioned and see what I can do about them.

i think its a decent start-however your paintings will never reach their full potential until you start USING REFERENCE!!
keep painting--ty

I do use reference some times; that's why I stress I haven't used it this time. I've drawn from photos and such my 'whole life', and I think it's a bigger challenge not looking at something. But of course, having a reference will make the drawing more lifelike, or at least should.
Anyway...
Here's the update.
I made it less shiny, and changed the eyes so they are more human like, plus added some shadows.
I pretty much kept the eyebrows, 'cause that's the way I want her to look.
Oh...I would like to say thank you to all of you who posted here, 'cause without your input, I probably wouldn't have worked any more on it, and seeing how big a difference it made, I'm glad I could get the advice from artists like you people. :)
Not sure if I'm finished with it yet though.
Now I might as well redo the nose to go with the new eyes... http://home.online.no/~johmoe/smilies/erm.gif
