I recently got a gig to created a mascot for a specific product for a company. They're saying they want about 7-10 poses in a vector based program like Illustrator. I just graduated and got the job through a friend (I'm unemployed otherwise), and I was just curious if you guys had any advice on how much I should charge.

work out an hourly rate that you would like to get paid, based on your skills, experience, running costs, software, etc. then work out how many hours it would take you to complete the work, that should give you a rough idea for the quote. Allow time for revisions, etc. also remember (at least in my experience) you tend to estimate alot less hours than it actually takes when you do the work. So be realistic when calculating your quote. You may want to split your quote- have a cost for the design stage of the character, then a cost for the additional poses, its up to you. You may also want to do up a quick contract to sign with your quote so that everyone is on the same page. Good luck
