An oil painting that I just finished (unless someone convinces me otherwise). Please, any comments, questions, crits, or nit-picks… I’d love to hear them.
Thanks,
-Andrew

sweet colors
my only nitpick is that the giant fades off too much in the background, i almost missed him completely ;)

I agree with zeroe, He is almost lost in the background. Good otherwise.

Looks cool. Idisagree with the other two guys- he's just got a lot of atmospheric perspective. MAN, he's huge! This reminds me of that fabulous NC Wyeth classic.

the furthest back one sort of melds into the sky, he looks really ethereal.

Great, your eye gets drawn to the rocks in the for ground, then "what the..." you see the gaint, like hes ment to be there. (there is two things though , the hand seem alot darker than the rest of him and the rocks seem brighter with the sun than his skin, may be it is the great distance for this occurance)
it is up to you, if you feel it finished.
great work!

what about the reflections of the rocks on the left, aren't they too solid? I think you should try to make them more faded (word?), currently they read as a whole block/one object...
The fog at the bottom of the giant...the edge to the water should be softer...like a gradient...this would also add more atmosphere to your image...

I like it a lot. Reminds me of Odilon Redon.

THANK YOU EVERYONE! I really appreciate all the feedback.
Hmmm. People seem to be split on if the monster fades too much into the background. I was going for a “Rock, rock… GIANT!!???” reaction, but now that it’s in the computer, I might play around with it a little. Thanks to zeroe, Spidey-man, sylver, and Bradart for voicing that concern.
Chukw: Thanks. You’re making me blush with the NC Wyeth comparison. I checked out your website. Nice work.
JOSHUATHEJAMES: I’m not sure what the Hahahah is for… but thanks. :)
WoadWarrior: You hit it right on! I’ll mess around with the hand and the highlights to see if I can get it looking better.
Fozzybar: Good points. I’ll give both a try. Thanks.
Summer Pudding: I wasn’t familiar with Odilon Redon’s work. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy his charcoal drawings.

Whoops!
nickbachman: Sorry I missed your post. You slipped it in while I was writing the last one. Thank you so much for the compliment.
Later,
