Spartan Camp #188 - 50 gestures + Optional "Long Figure Study"

The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 3rd of July.

- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you!

- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Long Figure Study", in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:

The last couple of optional studies were somewhat demanding, so this one is more straightforward! As opposed to gestures or a sketch, a figure study is more carefully planned, refined and rendered. However, it is still for study purposes. You do not have to spend hours, just take more time than you usually would. Strive for improvement!

Tips:
Google image for some examples!
You could use gesture drawings in preparation of a figure study! This is often the purpose of gesture drawings.

Possible reference sources:
Here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2767346&postcount=216)'s a small list.

As always- reference advised, not obligatory. Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you! Good luck and have fun! And feel free to ask questions!
50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.

Sharing critique is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference images and resources!! Let's help each other get better!

Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

Yes! You can take a look at some of the previous rounds to get a general idea. I usually don't have my gestures ready until the weekend, hehe.

Hi Anthis - very nice :D I keep meaning to ask, do you use reference for all your gestures?

I managed to get round to some of my own this week too...but not enough time to do 50, I did them at work and kept getting interrupted .

Angel Intheuk; Hey Angela! Nice going on these, very expressive. I think the torso's are especially strong, and proportions seem to take you little effort. On the other side, perhaps you're slacking on those arms a little, haha. That pose viewed from behind in your first scan (with the values) is really strong. Seems so simple. Nice job!
And no, mine are not from reference this week. Though I usually do keep a folder of good reference around. Checking every now and then keeps me focused on 'good' figures and helps me spot the mistakes.

samming; Good hands! And I think they're getting better along the way too. As I see it, hands are tough because they are both very organic and 'mechanical'. I think considering perspective really helps on those fingers. After all, the digits individually are quite limited in their movement. A finger can only move 'sideways' at the knuckles, for example. So It should be easy to 'predict' how a finger should look in any given position. At least, that's how I try to rationalize it. I like the portrait actually. It's tough to start a face like that without a sketch of the rest of the head first.
