I can't see how anyone can criticize something that's so close to the real thing(or so close to being a black & white photo)!
Amazing work.
A bit like what I've been doing in the past, only yours is done with lots more skills....
I really hope you're a pro.

Was there any tracing involved with this? because this has to be one of the most photorealistic drawings I have seen yet.
Very convincing and skillfully done.

:p thanks for the comments guys, there was no tracing involved - i just used a compass divider every now and then to check that certain proportions were right.

That looks nice. Reminds me of an artist I learned about in my current art class who made photorealisitc drawings with pencils. I don't remember his name unfortunately.
I notice that you used a soft touch with the pencil instead of hard or inbetween. Were you trying to convey something with that? One pencil drawing I saw--might have been by the artist I mentioned above--used a similar touch on a drawing of a hospital patient and it gave the drawing a feeling of sadness.

no, i wasn't trying to convey anything with the soft touch, i was just too afraid to press hard in case i made a mistake and couldn't rub it out ;) (i'm fairly new to this)

superior technique and definitely life like!
If I may, there is only one area that kinda bothers mea tiny bit: the shading to the left of the nose, while I am sure it is a perfect reproduction of the original photo, I would have taken an artistic license and possibly tried to make it lighter or to make it less flat and maybe have it blend more smoothly with the nose. Maybe it's just me... anyway, the drawing is incredible!

It is small.. but the inside of the jacket seems to be to dark... I also would be interested in seeing some of your other work... I mean a direct photograph copy doesnt allow for much originality
- Great render though
