ARTICLE, CLICK HERE! (http://connyart.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-get-good-at-art.html)

I just wrote a big article on the matter, giving people my view on things.
These are things I totally stand by after years of failures and whatever else.

It's for the new people and hopefully people get something out of it. I wanted to share it because I want as many as possible to read it because I wrote it to be helpful.

You may share your own opinions in this thread about the matter or my article.

Thank you!

I wouldn't say you necessarily had to give up 90% of your life to be an artist, it's more like arranging your priorities. I'd recommend just using the majority of your free time for art, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun. Rent a movie and sketch what your watching. Go on a walk and at the end do a quick study of a merging of everything you saw. Hang out with friends and use that as inspiration for a dynamic painting of an outing. Just my two cents.

Yeah I do that sometimes. But I guess I'm pretty black and white, I always feel guilty if I'm not working. It's one or the other for me.. at least most of the time.

I can understand that, as I'm an all or nothing kind of person myself. I think we both need to practice moderation. :D

Good is subjective. If you are talking about having the skills like the people on this site have, then yes it takes a lot of time, but really, if you just have the passion, the creativity, a good sense of colors and how the principals of art work, you are already good. In my opinion at least.

going to watch that now

if you're trying to say that I'm ripping this thing off, then that's not it. I haven't watched it before.

thanks for sharing, this is going to be interesting.

EDIT: I just watched it and I agreed on every single point he brought up. So I can see why people might think I ripped off on this. He basically said what I did in a kinder way.

That was a good read man. I really liked #4 "Your not born with talent"
Many people I know ride the "Talent Train" Oh I'm a great artist, I don't need to study. I was born an artist and I'll get a job as an artist. I should smack some sense into them.
