1:
I've heard that you can varnish an oil painting a few weeks after its finished, but all the bottles i looked at buying all said the painting should be 6 months to a year dry.

Anyone know different?

2:
I want to start making my own board and here's what i know.
Masonite (untempered) - can use acrylic gesso. Cut 50% water 50% gesso. Sand board with sand paper between coats.
Where do i get the masonite from, a home depot or something? Also what grain sand paper do i use? A very coarse paper in the begining and then a fine on in the end, depending on the amount of tooth i want?

thanks
