How long are paints good for?

I'm thinking of using my brother's old paint tubes...but they've got to be at least 7 years old. Are they still ok to use?? They're oil paints btw.

of course. have you seen those paintings from the old masters? they're like centuries old. Oils last a very long time, and if they've been in the tubes the whole time, they should be fine to use.
