Has this happened to anyone? I'm running painter 8 on an emac with no problems except that it won't let me increase the memory. No warnings or messages--it's just never let me highlight the numbers! They aren't greyed out. the only thing that is is the 'locked' option box, and it is currently unchecked. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

Hi,
I'm not a Mac user so this may not apply to your own Mac OS version:
I've read that on at least some Mac OS versions, memory is automatically allocated as needed.
Other Mac users can tell you if that applies to yours.
In WinXP Home, using Painter 8, we can go to Edit > Preferences > Operating System and the following options are available to check:
Physical Memory Usage
Maximum Memory for Painter
Half of Memory for Painter
Printing Options
Free Memory for Printing
No Printing Banding
Display Option
No Device Dependent Bitmaps
MMX Option
Enable MMX
(I have Maximum Memory for Painter checked.)
Don't know if any of the above options are available on Mac's but you might want to take a look.
Good luck,

Hey Jin,
I looked through all the options and didn't find anything that had to do with memory...no luck, but thanks!

Hi Larry,
Eventually some Mac users should come along and be able to help.
In the meantime, you might try posting your question to the followng:

Okay, a buddy of mine fogured this out. In the general section of the Get Info window there is an option box titled "Open in Classic Environment" just above the memory section, check that box and then you are able to change the default memory. It's dumb seeing as how P8 is an OSX progam, but it works.

If you are running in MacOSX, Painter will automatically grab whatever memory it needs. If you are running MacOS 9, you can set the memory allocation manually.
Note that the memory allocation in MacOS 9 (or "Classic", in MacOSX) has no effect whatsoever when running Painter in MacOS X.
