it's the story of a 19th century flying ship, and a squad of weird samurais....
retro002, i still have to post that robot sketch you asked for. i'll do it soon. :D

It's nice to separate foreground and BG with a color like that. I should learn to do that.
There is a Japanese model/design called Yamato (I think) which is a flying WWII ship. Looks pretty cool.

Nice Sparth!! I really need to get quicker with my executions, so im not all anal about my peices( im getting better) you look like your really comfortable just throwing it down without stressing pointles details--your stuff looks very free. check out my post "cyberpunk Samurai" our characters look like they could have come off the same ship. hahaha keep up the great work. ty

The blue in the background and red in the foreground gives the piece a strong sense of atmospheric perspective in terms of hue. However, in terms of atmospheric perspective through rendering, the background is actually rendered more carefully, which makes the shift from foreground to background less sucessful. It would help to render the figures in the front more fully, if perspective is of importance in this.

And again you amaze me with how you use colors in your paintings, Sparth. You are definitely my conceptart-idol.
Hope to see some tips from you some day, apart from the ones in your "artistic process" tutorial. ..
What size Wacom tablet do you use?

Ive never tried crack but i feel the same adiction to your work man more more !
sorry that i cant add anything constructive its just that the things mentioned above to me seem more to be a style thing rahter than something you need to work on ex, the foreground bieng less detailed I thinkk in this pic it actauly works well cause it draws your atention to the massive ship behind which is hard to do when faced with a red foreground intersting pic man

i find the ship in the background more interesting than the subject in the forground. Nice work still.

Prom: yea i wanted to emphasize this difference between two color tones. a bit weird, but just trying new things. that yamato names reminds me of starcraft, the terran battlecruiser could launch a huge blast of fire called yamato.

Sketch: tx :>
Smeagol71: hey thanx. kind of ya :>
tyboogie: yea, i think it's always better not thinking too much, and let color feelings happen freely. no constraints.
saw you samurai, it rocks. should leave a comment asap :>
amphex: talking about impressionism maybe? :>:>:>
Sadclown: tx! :>
Teknoholic: hehe. well the ship is here isn't it? :>
Ironspy: definitely true. i should make another pass on the foreground in order to define more stuff in there.
though the image spirit may change, i'll give it a try. as i do not have pretty much time doing stuff for myself, i tend to always use these rapid painting techniques....

Dorfmeister: tx dorf, that's a kind comment. i'll add tips later for sure. i use an a6 and an a5, but i prefer the a6.
cerreto_: well i'll always force you to look at my work instead of taking crack then! :> tx for your comment.
ChadTHX1138: i took to much time fixing that ship really ..... just for the pleasure of adding details, naughty me! :/
tx for your comments peeps

Hmm, that amazes me. I have a Graphire2 A6, but I thought the larger, the better. At least, that's what is said to me in some other thread.. What's the reason?

I've a feeling that it's 'Aurora' battleship back there... The one which fired the Winter Palace in St.Petersburg on October 25 / 1917 announcing the beginning of the russian revolution... And these guys on the front are the Red Army's special troops goin to imprison the Temporary Government.....
re-analysing history... see how u inspire me Sparth... :D
