This painting started as an exercise. I wanted to see if I could paint a somewhat realistic body using absolutely no reference. It took about 14 hours, spread over a few days, on photoshop 7. Only tool used was the paintbrush tool. No smudge or dodge but for the effects layers.

very cool, I'd suggest moving the stance of the leg, it looks like he is kinda... ski`ing.

very cool though :)

no man hes ice skating. good job with th eanatomy and the lighting. The red eyes arent really conveying anything to me personally--theyre very flat. also his expression is somewhere in between trying to remember how to conjure that lightning and trying to figure out who to shoot it at first. good work--keep it up!

Davi & tyboogie: ehm... he's... he's... dancing the macarena! yes! that's exactly what he's doing.. ehm... ;)

tyboogie: he's shoot it am me first I guess, for making him look like he's ice skating! ah ah.. about the eyes, mhh... they need more life or expression to them? I will see if can come up with something.

Fozzybar: thanks! The more I look at my finished pieces the less I like them... but I guess I like the hand now that you pointed it out.

Very cool work..youve certainly got some rendering skills!
I love the lighting, very..well..demonic =)
But I do agree that the stance doesnt seem to go along with the personality you seemed to be trying to create..
but who knows, maybe hes one of those "flamboyant" demons ;)

wow thats aamazing. I cant wait till i get a tablet. For the red light shining on his back, did u use a hard light setting on the brush. I tried to do something like that with soft light setting, and it looked like crap. Let us know. Great job.

here we go, I updated this picture a bit. I changed the leg position slightly and fixed the eyes.

helltaxi: actually, for the highlights, I used a separate layer set on normal mode with a outer glow belnding effect. On this layer, i added the highlights with a 100 opacity brush, then I smudged them around a bit . Some of highlights on this layer were brightened with the dodge tool. It's the same layer where I also painted the red bolt.

while conceptually the legs do something, compositionally they are useless. DO the legs even need to be there at all?
