Dammit Form! Don't exagerate. You spent $10 on food and $10+ on pool. That doesn't count. Besides I can't help it if you got no self control. :P
@3Demon: I'm sure we'll organise some kind of group meet after the Austin, Texas workshop. I think we probably shouldn't hold it at a pub . Just in case Forms loses self control again. I'm sure he'll get over it :D.

Hey guys, me again. Everyone here check out the thread in this forum here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24009) . Its an NPO im setting up. Its going well and with more support it looks like we can run various workshops and programs right here in our backyard.
Thanks Guys. And post where in syd you live as well. Happy and I are both in the hills district - he's in castle hill and im round the corner in cherrybrook.

Hey Sydneysiders!
Yeah I'm from Penrith too and I'm all for getting a community of some form happening...my girlfriend studies fine art at Meadowbank TAFE so if anything starts to develop I could get the word out there...should be plenty of interested artists there...my mum also works in the Fine Art department of Nepean TAFE so I could spread the word there as well...that is if you want it to be an open community as opposed to just a conceptart.org sub-community...
anyway- i'm interested...
I'll go check out that thread you linked to form...

How about we all get together in Sydney, maybe on the 12 or 13, and we can start to get some things organised as well as some ideas for CAOS. It's a good way to get to know each other too.
I could spread the word at UWS too.
Form
June 3rd, 2004, 10:43 PM
if its alright with you guys, we will arrange the meeting a bit later. Im going to the texas workshop, come back 24th june. I would like to have the time in texas to sort out some stuff with the boys, as well as getting a bit of a concrete base to work from before we get together. Until then sit tight and ill keep you posted.
Thanks to those who are willing to spread the word. I can also put flyers up both locally and thruout the city via the patented COFA PROPAGANDA UNIT (shhh!)

however if you guys wanted to meet up purely socially, nothing to do with CAOS, im still up for it.....

June 4th, 2004, 10:32 AM
Between UWS, COFA, and my two TAFEs we should be able to generate a fair amount of interest...as well as anyone else's connections
I agree with form- we should give it a bit of time to become a little more organised before the first official meeting, that also allows time for word of mouth to spread, flyers to be prepared and distributed etc.
I think that if you want people to be interested in the group it has to be fairly well sorted out from the beginning, or at least have a clearly communicated reason for having the group, like a service that it offers or whatever. That way people who aren't conceptart.org members will want to be a part of it. The things you listed in the other thread are a good start I reckon form.

Ill get started on some administrative stuff tomorrow. Ive negotiated the POSSIBILITY of an official affiliation site with CA - i want thios to be as official as possible. Ill also look into the cost of business registration and so on. We'll probably need a treasurer eventually too, and there will be other shoes to fill.
Anyway, watching american History X and drinking red bull and vodka until 1:30 in the AM kinda takes it outta ya.
Peace

I was just suggesting something so we can get to know the people from CA, but I guess all that will be organised a little later. The affiliation idea sounds good, hope that goes well.

damnit
i swear i posted here at least a week ago and now I find that it never came up...
oh well, what i wrote was that something should probably happen before form goes to Austin and starts doing some formal work on CAOS because it'll keep the idea alive a bit more (i noticed that this thread has gone real quiet) and it'll mean that the people interested can start getting to know each other and also share ideas/ bounce off each other a bit more...it also means that people could start drawing together on an informal basis
so...I reckon that if people are still interested then we should organazise an informal meeting of some sort which is still based around drawing and whatever...the UK (or was it London) group met at their local art gallery, did some individual drawing and then came back together as a group and worked on new drawings based on a theme...
that sounds like an ok idea for a starter...
whaddya reckon?
(let's hope this post comes up this time)

I work shifts so there's not really any good time for me at the moment...this coming week I think wednesday and thursday are best for me during the day but I'm sure that's not the best for most people...my roster changes every week though.
I wonder how many people are interested/available...I only count 5 who've posted in this thread, are there any more?

Wednesday or Thursday is fine for me if you want to do something. I bet there are quite a few people around the area that just haven't replied or maybe not seen the thread. Either way, after a while it will build up. Most likely after Austin. :)

Austin has actually finished, Form should be back soon. I'm sure something will get organised soon. I received an e-mail from Rowin Cassidy, he's also based in Sydney although at the moment he's in New Zealand. From the short e-mail he seemed like a real nice guy, maybe we can convince him to give us some short demos. He is a talented artist as you can clearly see for yourself (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24981)

Hey Form, I hear you dropped out of COFA? It's Jason, the 3rd yr BDM guy here, finally got around to posting.
Anyway, the CAOS thing you're organising sounds interesting. Though I'm not sure if there are a lot of concept artists in Sydney?
At COFA I only know one other guy that is into concept art! But yeah it'd be great to have an organisation for ppl like us to meet up, draw etc...

The more you look the more you find.....ive been in touch with over 100 concept artists in sydney.....theres a larger-than-you-think game and film industry here that has long been overlooked.
Tis true!
Also, the next conceptart.org workshop will be here in AUSTRALIA! Im organising it for mid-january and we will have a great lineup of pros!
CAOS members only may attend (just kidding :bs: )

Hey all y'all Sydney peeps,
What's been going on? I've been away a while and it doesn't seem as though much has been happening in the way of Sydneysiders getting together for a CA local cell here in town. From what I read over on the CAOS thread it seems that an Aussie workshop aint happening but there's no reason why we couldn't have a local get together of CA ppl anyway right?
Hopefully I'll be finishing my job soon and going to art school so I'll totally be up for it if anyone else is interested.

Anyway until I am freed of my current job Monday nights aren't really a possibility...

The dream is certainly alive :)

well chaps, couldn't think of anywhere else to post this but I just got accepted into the National Art School here in Sydney.
Judging by talking to some of their teaching staff it sounds pretty good...and also from talking to my night class teacher they're meant to have a good reputation.
So...starting February I'll be a full time art student...maybe then i'll pull my finger out and do some drawing

i was thinkin about going to NAS as well, but its too full time. I enjoy working and earning cash (i have expensive tastes unfortunately) so Im going to Billy Blue in north sydney.
Im hoping i'll be able to combine illustration with web and graphic design and be able to earn a little on the side while at school.
Seems a lot of us are going to be located in and around the metropolitan over the next few years. It should be no sweat to have some get togethers.
