Otterfrenzy- Cool brush strokes, it looks real fresh. I dig the woodblock-like black strokes.
xbiten- Looking good so far, kind of a theme shop huh? Hope you will continue to flesh it out, looking forward to seeing it finished.
My take was more of a space-port sort of dealy...

Wow, not many takers today huh? Anyway, here's my 45 minutes worth of nonsense. C&C's appreciated as per...
So far I like silentbrain's the best, even if it isn't really a shop/mall :)

I should work on getting things to look right with a straight horizon line before I star skewing things :(
If I have time, I'll throw in a mermaid or two :)
Crits very welcome!

It could have tossed in some effects with the tablet, but thought to give it a shot in pencil. Very rough, very... "first ideea".
It has been a while since I did gradients with the pencil, so things got really messy, really fast. Added a layer with blue gradients on the computer. Hmmm... it laks populace and a point of interest, more details and a cleaner rendering.

Ever since the mall moved in to the valley, Ma and Pa’s under water eattery and supply store just didn’t get the same attention..

Osmus- Color choice is great this time around. But the composition is problematic. Im not sure what here is building and what is sea, where is the horizon for example.
helzer- fantastic
sheep- cracked me up
artistambul- I always envy the your control of light, glare, reflection, a simple brush stroke adds so much depth
jebus- did you flip me the bird just now
good job all around!

I duno if you can see it but the heart chain says "Mal" (French Interpretation: Mal = Bad) on it with lil' horns coming off it. Take the interpretation how you will.

@silentbrain - I think the lighting really sells it. Personally I'd up the contrast and add one more color to draw your eye to the image's focal points.
@Helzer - It reminds me of woodcuts. I like the way every inch is packed with texture and I LOVE the colors.
@YeeWu - The horizon isn't that bad, just a few tweaks would fix it. The yellow light in the middle is effective and the grass is perfect. I'm confused about what's at the bottom. Is that a wall surrounding a parking lot?
@Shelldragon - Hmm... My interpretation: this image symbolizes something privately important and publicly incomprehensible. :p

I felt rather bad about how little thought I put in my previous sketch, so here goes again :).
A mall must have customers, so perhaps it should be placed near human activity like a deep mining operation . Probably on a platform above the mines would be best. Less debris floating around.
How is it supplied ? A mall has heavy in-out flow of mechendise and garbage so using underwater ships would probably be costy. So perhaps they just have some tight cables with the surface, and strap containers to them with little engines that yank them up and down ( think sky cabins on a vertical cable)
Took me about 50 minutes. Needs more subtle colors and detail and textres... badly.
Birds eye view. :)

This was a fun airbrush/blur tool experiment. I wanted to add little jellyfish shoppers, but I've got to get to bed.

Beeglebug- uh, it's er, uh, a supermall! A mall-city! uh, yeah! :D
Dang, seems like Mickey-D's gonna pwn the future, like the next uberpope or something...
Jebus- nice dramatic lighting and water effect, I'd like to go there someday.
Scteven- Hey now, don't be like that! Let's put it in perspective, I'm a 22 year old temporary college dropout, to lazy to really get a job anywhere. Now get out there and DRAW, soldier!
artistanbul- how ironic, a tobacco shop that's underwater. :D
YeeWu- Lovely colors and textures, I think those mermaids would be a great idea to give it some scale and livelyness.
Oddo- Not too shabby idea though, I'm seeing maybe a multi-stacked store system, doesn't need stairs because it's underwater, pretty good idea I think.
Second one is great! Nice details on how it functions too!
Kexe- I like the colors and mood in yours also, kinda like fantasy, storybook-ish.
Antilight77- Will it be Walmart? :D nice isolated feeling on the Mom&Pop store.
InterruptingSheep- hahaha, cute! Dig the water distortion as well.
Helzer- I dig the silouettes and textures, I wish I could do illos like this. I guess my brain is too conventional-thinking.
Osmus- I agree with dagreengo here, and the lighting is a little haphazard, but I think it is an improvement on your fisherman of the li river pic.
Shelldragon- Woah, kind of depressing, I dig that lots.
HillartSympho- Cool effect on the roof, I would really dig walking through a hall like that!
Railboy- thanks for the crits! I think you're right on both points. Raar, I'll get you next time, art demons...
Lovely colors on your piece, very dreamy-like.

Im kinda dissapointed with the botched color job, but I really wanted to be able to post AND sleep today
More great stuff, Oddo I like this one better.
Its not quite a shopping centre ... but its still the mall.

Whats wrong with the picture, btw. Somethings off with the ship, but I cant quite place it.

Thanks all for your comments! :)
Railboy: The thing at the bottom...I'm assuming you're referring to that dark thing near the grass. It's supposed to be a rift in the ground, but it didn't turn out so well. By the way, I really like the colors in yours. :)
Silentbrain: As much as I'd like to throw the mermaids in, now that I look back, the composition in general bugs me. I will probably re-do this pic sometime in the future. I do agree with Railboy about perhaps adding another color in there. I think it would be kinda neat if you had something really close in the foreground to give it some scale (kinda like how you have that one ship that's darker than the others).
Dagreengo: I think the problem is that the ship's vanishing point is either too close to the image frame, or that the horizon line is too straight. I would imagine for a show like this to work, you'd have to use a fisheye lens (I think). Perspective isn't really my strong point. I do like the concept of an underwater "Mall" :D

dagreengo I think it might be tilting to one side too much.
