Noob at sketchup but I'm getting the hang of it. Started this yesterday and this ended up being the second attempt. I have a real Planar head attached to a camera tripod but I thought having a digital one will come in handy as well.

Excellent Jason. That's a candidate for Google Warehouse surely? ;-)

Nice man.The head has a lot of character. Pretty damn good job for your second try too boot. Hope to see more from you.
Would love to see a work in progress video on your head. Looks like your using the follow me tool for most of your curve work? Or are you just pushing and pulling triangles?
Lots of people don't t think sketchup can do organic models or characters so its refreshing to see your post. :)

@Joeparis - I'm considering putting this up on the warehouse but the Planar Head has a copyright on it so I'm a little reserved about it.
@Chirp Chirp - Thanks CC! Honestly there wasn't much technique involved. I placed a side view and front view on a plane and locked it. Then traced the profile. After that I would just plant specific points and lines in space with the line tool before "skinning" or manually meshing them. The head, eye, and ear were seperate groups.

This is amazing! Incredible work. I didn't know it was possible to actually do sculpting work like this in sketchup, but I guess it makes sense it would be!

That's brilliant. Have uploaded it yet to the warehouse? Lots of people here I'm sure would love to use it.

Yes, man, share your bounty! I've been looking for a 3D head for blender or sketchup for aaaages! Awesome work!
