kosh mate, keep the vodka and grapefruits comin', and I'll sing like a bird. ;)
You should come man. You're the only one of the old skool London crew I haven't met yet.
btw peeps, it looks like there'll be quite a few folks going. Perhaps more than one busy Friday nite pub could reasonably accomodate, so, I'm thinkin' if we end up like sardines, with barely room to swig, we should split up, Scooby Doo style. ;)
There's loads of great pubs a stone's throw away from each other, so if you find the conversation where you're at a bit flat, go to the loo, jump out the window, and join the others! ;)
It's a mostly arty farty types affair anyway, so that shouldn't happen.

...Its come to my attention that this thread is becoming more and more confusing by the day.
Far too many of you are posting unecassarily, and theres at least 4-5 people shouting out at us where and when to meet up.
The conceptart.org community 3.0 (menu at the very top of the page) is where you'll find the UK forum with ALL EVENT DETAILS(go to GROUPS). DO NOT reply in that forum, as it will get confusing as this one.
DC, if its ok with you, could you please keep hold of the reigns for Michelangelo Event this Monday? I have seen 2 posts already from different folk telling us where to meet up etc, its silly.
I dont mean to be a grouch, but its becoming less and less inviting to pop into our thread as conversations are taking place at the speed of a bullet.
If you guys have MSN - USE IT.
If your making travel arrangments- USE YOUR PM's
If you cant get to, or know where the UK community forum is, copy paste the url into your signiture
Please, please PLEASE lets keep the Lounge tidy! put ur rubbish in the bin, and clean up after yourself...
Mama Mollyx
PS - 6.40pm Michelangelo is fine with me WELCOME to ALL new folk...:)

Im having getting on 3 at the moment as well - I keep getting an error message.. I just use the direct URL instead of clicking on links in this forum. i.e, for my homepage - - http://community.conceptart.org/user/?P=Alcian etc. Then any part of 3.0 can be accessed with out a prob.
Well, this has worked so far.
Is this the same prob you are having?

I see it as there are two parts to the site, the old bit and the new bit (this being the old familir part). As long as you are the 'new bit' all parts pages should be assessible. links from the old site that shoud lead to the new part aren't currently working (this is what I have found). You need to type in the actual url to get onto the 'new' bit.
Hope that makes sense, oh and that I aint stating the obvious ¬_¬

great meet today, am i the first one to post?
summary: we sat in starbucks for a good while, went to forbidden planet, then pizza hut, then the british museum for the michelangelo exhibit (which was v. good) and then to nando's.
the highlight of the day (or certainly event to remember it by) was in the british museum. we were all taking a group photo when christian, realising he wouldn't be in it, ran to be in the picture and hurtled headfirst into a glass donations box, then was presumably whisked off to first aid and then hospital, needing some stitches. we had a mini thunderdome the topic being christian's tussle with said donations box, haha
yes, so, fun! fun fun. of course not so for christian, who was nearly blinded. hope it heals asap man, that cut was orrible lookin.

I wanted to go again next week but my mum told me to save up and go next month. :( Which I will do for the Anime Con (shout out if you're free on the 27th-28th May! It's a WEEKEND!!).
The Pixar exhibition was amazing!! Seeing raw sketches (some which didn't even go through) and absorbing the fact that very little of the initial work is actually digitalised was fantastic.
Man, I'm gonna have to gather up some serious cash if I want to keep up with these London trips, Florence AND personal shopping (okay, not essential, but still nice...).

mid- ooh i taught myself tenor sax
I play oboe, piano, drums, violin and also tenor as said above
My theory is that art and music generally go hand in hand
ive generally found that my friends who take music or play instruments like art or the other way round
and yeah those donation boxes can be pesky

Yay~! Glad to hear people are up for next month! ^__^b Just a word of warning: it gets damn hot in the hall, so don't layer up or you'll roast!! I might bring along my moogle bag again. :)

Hey kids,
Me and Kim are up in the Lake District with fifty backpackers getting into trouble. Somewhat of a hangover today, and you've no idea how many times I've had to explain the eye. Awesom country up here - did a bit of sketching on the way round Lake Windermere yesterday. Hopefully will get some more done today.
Up ridiculously early cause it was the only shot I had tf getting a shower. After walking 15 km yesterday, jumping round in tequila frenzy and no shower, I was gagging for it...

So I did the shamless begging off my dad. Im paying him back next week tho. i shouldnt have to do shit like that at 21.
But then he really made my day, i was telling him about italy this year, and he said he'll pay for my flight ticket. And my flatmate and I have got some web design jobs, so I might be able to pull this thng off!
Oh yeah, I caved Badger, got a sketchbook now. I 'll show ya the stuff I made after the London meet when I get back to uni to my scanner. (Inspired by DC!)

Hey man. A helluva lot of pros have done the industrial design stint. It will teach you to understand your designs in the highest detail. You'll have to be meticulous and have an eye for detail. You may find theres a lot less artistic input than you'd like. But by the time you finish, your understanding and natural perspective ability will shoot through the roof, really giving you an edge. Its also a really good idea, because ideally, your concepts are to be made in some form of 3D eventually. Just expect a massive decrease in artistic licence lol. :yayca:
WARHEAD
April 29th, 2006, 07:13 AM
Hey Christian - hope you're doin well after fighting those 50 (?) ninja's in the museum the other day.....haha
when i was looking for an ID course I looked at which were the best uni's for the subject and then which one of those offered a part time course. For me loughborough seemed the best because their full time one is a year and part-time was two years and it's one of the best, but leans more towards the technical side of design.
If you want more of a car design type then try Coventry, they do an MA in car design which is part time - very hard to get into though and it's 30 months, but it's world rated ! If you want more of an artistic course try St Martins, but not sure if they do it part time.
I actually might go full time if i get a scholarship - just waiting to hear back, hopefully fairly soon ! anyway good luck !

Bristol meet - I'm fine with it being in a few weeks so long as it's not the 27th/28th May as I'll be in London (Expo).
Fran: I think if you shaded the whole thing grey then erased/pinted white the highlights it would look a bit more metalicy. Have a look at how light reflects on metal (http://flickr.com/photos/irishblueyes/sets/48070/). Here's a shinier example, but it has a stupid watermark (http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/111216/2/istockphoto_111216_water_fountain.jpg). The bubblegum pink is a nice touch. ;)

well actually im owed 5 weeks holidays from work, ive booked two off for San Fran in august but i could ask if i could have one week off to go on a saturday.
This is only as long as i give enough prior notice for me to be payed, if not my cousin will cover my shift but ill miss out on my money!! so the sooner a date can be decided the better!
edit: waaaait i only just noticed- you guys mean next weekend? well i wouldnt be able to get a payed day off as its too short notice but my cousin offered to cover that shift anways coz i covered hers on sunday. So yeah if a date is decided then great! iill be poor coz i have a leaving do to go to the night before as well!

There should be a folder in the start menu that says "wacom tablet" click on the icon in that which says "wacom tablet properties" click on the mapping tab in change it to "portion" after that you just need to draw a box with the stylus to the area of the screen ya wanna use.
If you want to move the cursor over to the other screen your going to have to use the mouse, sorry but I don't know a way to get it to hop between both.

i like it its cool! but how does it steer or speed up/slow down?
trev
May 6th, 2006, 02:12 PM
The beasite is bolted, pined and wired directly into the thing (need to add in in some cables). I was thinking he could just use his own weight to steer, but I think Im gonna add in an extra wheel so that he could turn on the spot if he needs to - it would work like tracks on a tank.
lefran
May 6th, 2006, 02:19 PM
yeah i think an extra wheel would be a good idea, as i was thinking what if he fell sideways? obviously he has arms to push himself back up but a second wheel would be more stable right?

Think of it like the melufa in The Amber Spyglass: they travel using one 'wheel', right? Same with unicycles. :) It's still possible to go from A to B on one in real life so I don't really see the problem here.

In the last two London trips I went to it was for the whole day: meet up around late morning-noonish, hang out, draw, have lunch, draw, hang out then have dinner and draw/chill out 'til 11:30pmish 'cause the tubes/trains stop running at midnight lol. Dunno if the meets in Bristol are usually that long though.
Best wait for ma and pa (Josh and Eri) to come home 'un answer, Danny. :)
EDIT: Oh yeah, if me and my mum remember to make them, I might be bringing some banh bao which are Vietnamese steamed buns (one type with pork, noodles and egg - the other with sweet yellow bean paste) for you guys, hehe.
