Hey guys 'n gals,

I recently started posting on CA and would like to meet up. Anyone up for sketching in Amsterdam in the weekend of 27th - 28th of august?

Also, does anyone here know if the courses at Wackers academie are any good? I'm thinking about doing this one (http://www.wackersacademie.nl/content.php?content_id=227&label=cursussen) (saturday afternoon version). Do they emphasize both construction and observation of the figure?

Ms.Happygirl: there's also a Facebook group you can follow.
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=328969302090

Kapri: Where were you thinking of going sketching? I want to visit the Rijksmuseum again sometime next month. Maybe we can go together. (Or anyone else?)
I've never been to Wackers. Look at the student and instructor work before you sign up...

I'll probably check it out at the end of July or in August.

So does anyone want to come to this with me? I hate going alone...

nickydraws: I didn't really have a plan yet but the Rijksmuseum sounds awesome. I'm can only make it on weekends though. Saturday 27th of august would be good for me. A week earlier might also be possible.

Anybody interested in joining? The date can be changed, but weekends are not an option for me.

Last call to arms: tomorrow at 11:00 we are meeting at the hermitage in Amsterdam to study Rubens.

Edit: my results of sketch trip to Rubens here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=3308682#post3308682). Had a great time. Who's up for another one? Maybe get together in a cafe or another museum?

Hi guys,

Many of the workshops appear to be fully booked. They're going with a "one person per workshop" policy allowing for more people to participate.
Managed to get a spot on Sunday (15.00 to 16.30 PM, model drawing with Cor Vrolijk).

Hi all,

I was planning to visit the Body Worlds (http://www.zuidas.nl/node/889) exhibition (zuidas, Amsterdam) anyways and I figured it should be an interesting opportunity for some anatomy sketching.

As a precaution, I went there to do some research first. We are allowed to sketch (no photography allowed). It is not too dark inside, according the the employees who helped me. In fact, they also told me they had just finished negotiating a similar trip for the Rietveld Academie.

I have not set a specific date, but should be available on most days. Perhaps a weekday to prevent the big crowds?
Anyone interested can come along!

Hello!
I am new here! The meet ups sound very exciting but most of all useful to improve my skills. I decided this year I'm officially going to college for illustration, so I want to put full focus on art after exams. It feels kind of weird to be posting here between such masters, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Kapri
March 16th, 2012, 11:43 AM
Hey Silverbleed, you're welcome to come along to the sketchmeet. It's also advisable to create a sketchbook thread so you have a place to post the results and receive feedback.

Every last Wednesday of the month is when they work on 2 long poses instead of multiple shorter ones.

It's always a blast drawing with the oldies. Youngest except for me is somewhere in his 50s, average are in their 70s :teeth:.

Hello CA Netherlands!

If any of you happen to be in Antwerp this Sunday night, April 22, M. Tobias Hall and myself will be doing a live portrait painting demo and lecture at the Nova Cultural center. Entrance is totally free. More details on the poster. Maybe catch some of you there!

Cheers,
Tom

Yeah, I'll post in this thread as soon as I'm attending another SAKB aterlier or going out to draw in public. I'll be away to Zurich next week though and kinda busy after that. So don't know when. But I'd love to tag along to the zoo some time.

Art_Addict: looks awesome, too bad I can't make the time.

By the way: I went to the storyboard workshop by Jim Cornish. Pretty cool stuff even though it was more of a lecture / interview instead of a real workshop. Did anybody else manage to go?

Beautiful paintings Tom. Seems like a nice lecture too! Doubt I'll make it though, but you never know.

I've got another idea for a sketchmeet, but I still need to work it out a bit.
The Allard Pierson museum in Amsterdam has a collection of plaster casts from ancient statues (http://allardpiersonmuseum.nl/english/collections/special/plaster.html). Seems like great study material. Access is unfortunately limited. I'm currently corresponding with them to see whats possible, I'll report later!

Awesome idea, I've been wanting to draw plaster casts for a while now. I'll try to tag along.

Another cool idea might be to go to Naturalis in Leiden and study animal / dinosaur anatomy there.

The Piersons is cool I was there a couple o'times.
Would love to see the Wackers course, its just so far away.... I'm lazy :D

Two other things coming up: On Qeensday I'll be makin portraits with other artists in the Westerpark from 11 o'clock on. If someone is interested to join, I can hook you up (or you just come either way :D).

And then from the 18th May up to 3rd June there is Portrait Month in the Galerie de Stoker (Baarsjes area). You can either watch or see just the paintings on the wall - or join the painting sessions with portrait models - 3 hours for 10 Euro. It is every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 13 to 16 o'clock... I'll be there the first 3 sessions to paint (and host so to speak), and then every Sunday.
Here are the details: http://www.maroesja-lacunes.com/beeldend/nieuwsbrief.html

Ther's also a Dr. Skechy's at 20th July apparently... and I was thinking to also organize a portrait session in my studio in May or June. Busy times :)

I never knew there was here a Netherlands topic, nice!

Im a 3th year student from HKU (high school of art Utrecht), design for virtual theatre and games. I want to practise my drawing more (analog and digital), but doing this at home doesn't work for me. Does anybody knows good workshops to learn more? The only workshops i can find isn't in the Netherlands... :( I like to draw concept/game art, portraits en city's. Who o who can help me? ^^

I'll be attending SAKB life drawing session (http://www.sakb.nl/openateliers/detail.php?id=50) in Amstelveen on Wednesday next week again. If anyone wants to meet up: I'll see you there.

@ Inwe: I haven't found any concept art workshops in Dutch, but if you want to practise traditional drawing / painting Wackers academy (http://www.wackersacademie.nl/content.php?content_id=227&label=cursussen) in Amsterdam is great. Wackers basics (http://www.wackersacademie.nl/content.php?content_id=415&label=wackers%20basics) is given in the weekends.
