Hey Peeps,
I have been wondering how we can start bringing people better together from the site. A topic in the Lounge came up in regards to local artist chapters and I recieved a PM from Layil as well about the idea. I am hoping that we can really get something like this together. Imagine being able to travel from place to place and always having a group of artists whom you are familiar with and can share in the arts. I think it is a wonderful thought.
In Austin we have a group started by J Rubio. The local artists meet on Sundays and draw down at a local hangout. They also do pub crawls where they go from bar to bar drawing in their sketchbooks. (we did the same thing in amsterdam and it was great).
I suppose local figure drawing and painting groups would be a great idea as well as just having a couple people to hang out with and do something artistic and not just seeing movies or whatever.
Anyhow, I hope you all can start gathering some. It would be wonderful to see how great of a community we can make here. We learn more together than alone. I hope you all feel the same.

start any chapters you want. I will make a few. The rest of the threads can be made by anyone! It's your community too.

Ah, yes, Idaho, on the border of Washington, I do get to escape often though, throughout Washington, Oregon, California, various other states and a few other countries. My replies on the local chapters in the Lounge thread was my personal reaction to my surroundings here. If I can get something going in coffeeshops and restaurants here, anybody can anywhere. Even Antarctica.

My only suggest would be to make an announcement about it that shows on all the forums. I think there may be a lot of CAers who haven't noticed this section yet.

A local store has offered to sell me decent sketchbooks (spiral bound, 80 pages, will take inks and watercolours) for $4 each, so I am stocking up to hand out to the chapter I am plotting on establishing locally. Just mentioning this, maybe others can do the same. The shop was quite eager to help out and the sketchbooks are very nice for $4. I am going to make a blank chapter template to post locally, anyone want me to post it so that they can use it as well?

Well, I'm apart of the East Coast Artists Unite (http://www.ecau.net) and we're always hooking up and having meets here and there every month. Every so often our group forum has these arts based events going on on the East Coast and I share what I find out about. We could always enjoy a few more folks chiming up, and sharing.
This free sketchbook idea sounds pretty sweet though, since the group will be hitting ten years old in 3 more years that sounds like something to push for to benefit the group, thanks for the idea. It might be better then the free hosting we have for a few of the member artists we have right now before the website is rebuilt.

Hi!
Yeah, there are the stirrings of a group in london UK. Molly, Dirty_c and I met for the first time last month and are planning a meet the first weekend of every month, hopefully with more and more people. I hope to make it more often too. If there is some way to make people aware of local 'chapters' that would rock!
I love nothing more than chatting to crazy people over sketchbooks... this site is the best thing that ever happened to sketch-o-maniacs!!! - Thank you Jason! :)

I know it's kinda late in the game but is anyone in the San Diego area willing to start a chapter? I wish I thought of this concept earlier in the year so we could possible host our fellow CAers for the Comicon. If anyone is interested please let me know so we can do something.

Mr. Manley: I have to say that this idéa is the greatest ever. <3 I've started a local group here in Gothenburg, Sweden with a friend, and now we're getting more people to join. We started having a meetings every Sunday three or four weeks ago. Sometimes we meet more than once a week.
I have never been drawing this much since... I don't know when, perhaps ever. I draw not only when we meet, but all the time. I think it's all about getting the right habits that decides if you will be able to develop great skills. I'm not there yet, but I like to belive that I finally have started my "journey" for real. :hatsoff:
I just wanted to say thank you for developing this idéa here on the forum. It really helps! Even if I thought of gathering artists many times before, I've never been able to find the right people with the right mindset. Those who visit these forums knows what it means to be serious about art, and don't sit around waiting for inspiration to walk by every day, but instead just dive into it.
Anyhow, I hope more and more people start local groups like these. This community rocks!!! :cheerleader:

I'm new here (as of about 30 min. ago) and I am looking for a local group in the Ft. Worth (TX) area. Anybody fit that description?
I've been on devART for a while and a few of my friends are artistically adept, but I'd like to meet a group of people who are really serious about getting into the artistic side of the game industry.
Newbily yours,
Angel

Hello everyone, I have a new site to help artists and customers get together, it costs nothing and I am certain with a little advertisement it will become very popular.
Visit http://artistsontap.blogspot.com/
You can hire capable artists to create personal masterpieces for you, your family, your girlfriend/boyfriend or your business. Post your project and have capable artists work night and day pouring sweat and tears over your personal masterpiece. You can have a talented sculptor create your likeness out of clay or have a modern day Michelangelo add that missing loved one to a family portrait or have a master metal worker create that steel sculpture you’ve been dreaming about. Artists can make even the craziest of ideas work!
Visit http://artistsontap.blogspot.com/
Tell your friends help make this a hit. Artists need food too, please feed the artists of the world.

It'd be nice if there were more than one page to this L.A.G. section... bc there are more than the 25 or so threads, and if yours gets bumped, well, there's no way to access it other than to search, which may or may not yield good results.
thanks

I'm actually sad there's not a Clarksville section. Maybe that's a little too narrow, but I don't know where else to go other that is active but still in my group. I'm from Clarksville and still reside here and I'd love there to be a thread to gather.
