I hope this is the right place to post this.

I'm learning traditional art just off DVDs and books. I've been watching some Gnomon DVDs by David Finch, an awesome comic book penciller. I really like the way he constructs his heads. The problem with the DVDs is he just sketches them out quick, not really explaining the details because its not the focus of the DVD.

So I attached a pic of how he does his heads, you can see his contstruction lines there. I was hoping someone could maybe point me in the right direction to learning this way. I'm assuming here that he's learnt it off Loomis or Villpu or someone and not just on his own.

cheers

Its an out of proportion version of a loomis head. Here is what it should look like from Loomis' Fun with a Pencil

So I should just keep studying Loomis then and that'll help me build that foundation?

If you want to learn that technique you have to keep practicing it until you can do it exactly right. Fun With a Pencil is a great place to start.
