We made a short but fun little theme and sent them to eachother and then worked with that.

well i got my first copy of Fruity loops maybe 9 months or so ago and i havent had that much musical experienced before.

But fruity got me and music has always inspired me to draw and we...to make my own shit.

Even tho im more of Trance kinda guy ive always had fun to make kickass beats, rob d style.

First off, props to both of you. There's some really great potential in both of these.

Crash: Really dug the groove you had going there. Nice use of breaks and builds...by the end of the song I was getting into it. Also, very nice use of some harmonies in there to build a few subtle layers off of a very simple premise.

Hyver: There's a lot of really trippy subliminal shit happening in your track that I like. It's like a goa tripping on qualudes. ;) That said, I think you killed it right when it was getting good. If that outro were a break into the next phase of the song, I'd be digging it much more.

As I said, IMHO, these are both fine pieces but I think Crashes mix feels more complete. At least part of it is due to the track length but also because of the builds and breaks. But I guess it depends on the goal...I could definately see Hyvers mix fitting into a chillout set in the back room or something. :)

I'm curious what the parameters of this competition were? Did you each have the same set of samples to work with or what?

Well we didnt share any samples but HYVER made a theme and I (Crash) Made a theme and i sent mine to him and so on and we worked with that....as i said.
