reminds me of fairy tales - wich is good :) the blue is rather frosty in my opinion (no argue about that - choice is yours) but I do wonder what (spider??) lies on giants' shoulder?!

TY Dimness, was going for more detail, but when i saved i only saved the miniture copy of the pic and forgot to save the original to work on.

I hate PHOTOSHOP!!

Going to buy Painter Programm from the Shops, yes, actually going in there and buying it. Its tempting to Download stuff.

actually pshop corelpainter and opencanvas are all good. but the best of all is opencanvas (to me) for quick stuff. it has somethin none of the other two have: rotate canvas option. with a poor tablet in hands you can really take advantage of this option.

btw here's my second stage giant. hope u'll get a strong crit on it 2 make me finish the gentle fellow.

Dimness, actually Painter does have a rotate canvas feature. Check out the Help files for a demo. I have never tried out Open Canvas, but it sounds cool.

Well, here's mine. It's been a while since I've posted, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. Crits and comments welcome, as always.

dimness: Nice use of texture, I like the roughness of it, it makes the image more tangible.

Cold: I like the different perspective you're using, it's nice to look at an image and have it not be from the angle we're used to.

Jslayer: I like your idea, maybe he could be marching on a surface other than the edge of the paper though, it starts to flatten out the character. I like how he's dragging the flowers along behind him, it alludes to the personality of the giant.

After about an hour an a half I decided to call it a day. Would like to come back and add something to represent scale.

http://pookabin.com/images/DSG/DSG411_GentleGiantLarge.jpg

dimness - LOL. Great character. The flowers are a nice touch, but their size looses the giants size. I actually like the look of the skin in the first rough pic' better. Nice colours.

Cold - Nice angle and anatomy. Wish it was bigger though.

JSlayer - I guess flowers are the order of the day, but like dim' the scale is lost.

JeniThus - He looks really friendly. great facial expression. For some reason I think the toes add so much character to the pic'.

Ok, I have had the worst time lately being creative and being able to do work. So today I just decided to sit down and do something and who cares how it comes out, just do it. I am always worried about little details and refrences and what not. So this is what I did....

Everyone managed to bring up a fragile huge fellow on page, wich is nice.

Cold - expecting yet the finished version and the ansewer:what is that on his shoulder? :)
Gumdrop: why not flowers like everyone, a stick in his hand makes it rather nasty :D

as 4 myself, i ruined my boy. the second stage was my favourite so judge yourself:

I figured this big guy would like to have a little pet, like an elephant (yes, that is an elephant in there... he was an afterthought).

About 1.5 hours in Painter.

Dimness - That is really nice, I like the progress shots, but I think you overworked it. I thought that your second post was much better too. My only question is are about his legs... where are his lower legs? I don't mean to pick on you — like I questioned your Paladin — I am just curious. Come up with a cool answer and you've nailed it! Kewl. Plus that axe is bad ass.
Cold - The perspective and colors are great. I love the little guy on his shoulder, especially the contrast in colors.
Gumdrop - Damn you for not finishing that!!! He rocks! He looks drunk too. So he's a happy drunk.
Matt Smith - Giants and beer, they go hand in hand. Hahah. Good work.
brawkstake - Woah! That's rough.
Osmus - Hahah, that is funny... Nice sketch.
DV8 - Hhaha. That is a nice sketch. He looks happy and full...

Sixblade - Good point. It's too late for me to make alterations to it now, but thanks for the help. Yeah, I didn't even think of it, but it is how real light would work, so....
