For my AP studio portfolio in school, we have to choose a concentration (theme) that we need 12 pieces of. I chose to do a cloth/folds/wrinkles theme. So now I gotta do a bunch of artworks that reflect the imperfections of cloth, or whatnot.
here is an 18x24 inch drawing

and a close up

This one is an oil painting I started a couple days ago, It's a little past halfway done. It's also 18x24

Thats a superb job man, is that graphite for the first portrait? The texture is really good. The Hellboy is nicely done also.

damn arwar!
these three pieces are excellent.
the wrinkles/folds in the selfportraits look really good, it's something i always have trouble with and you make it look so easy heh *shakes fist!
the face in the first one looks a bit cartoony to me, maybe because of the lack of a bigger range of shades? or maybe because the pupils and nostrils are pitch black, i dunno, it still looks good, but the rest of the body looks a bit more defined, the lighting is superb, giving it more of a realistic look
the hellboy is cool too, the way his hands and legs look unfinished gives it an awesome look, hey man you got a new fan. :]

Nice job, especially for being in a studio art AP class....i'm sure you'll get a 5. With the first cloth piece, try adding some more rendering/contrast to the cloth. It's a bit bleached out, and this flattens it some. Nice job on the part the drapes over your hand. (the ring and pinky finger feel like they're poking through the cloth instead of having the cloth hang off of them, i'm not sure if it was intentional or not.)

edit: Relooking the first piece over, I think the values as a whole are too light.

I assume you're planning to go to art school after this? ;)

Those selfportraits looks damn good and the rendering on Hellboy makes me envious.

thanks for the reply guys =)

Montross - yup, that first picture is done with graphite.
pac23 - thanks =) I agree with you about the face. Although I took this picture with a lamp light closer to the top left of the image, and the light may have brightened that part up a bit. I'll try and take another photo, maybe out in the sunlight, and see if it gets any better.
makotierra - thanks =) the cloth in the first one is supposed to be sort of translucent, maybe that's why the fingers look like they're coming through it. I'll see what I can do to get rid of that illusion.
kapturowski heheh thanks =)

thanks again guys. :D

The oil and the hellboy are especially sweet... can't wait to see the oil finished.

The first one does so much with seemingly little variation in contrast and the consistency of your shading is incredible. Superb. The second has so much depth already, can't wait to see it finished. Who is this Hellboy I've been hearing about? I'm kidding, its a beautful likeness.

if you're changing it so the AP board, dont' bother. They're not that picky. it's a subtle thing, and isn't really something worth bothering about. What grade are you in, btw? junior? senior?

The eyes of the first pic seem too asymmetrical to me. Same for the eyebrows. Hellboy looks good, though. :)
