Here's a suggestion I had for Wolverines travel dilemna in chat, but as soon as I mentioned it I thought that it was something that I would want to do then some other people thought it was interesting so I thought I'd post it and share with some other people.
The idea is to take a short trip, walking, driving, doesn't matter. Take your camera, take your notebook (if you're really adventurous, take your sketchbook and do it real time.) Where you go is up to you, but it should be someplace you wouldn't normally go. Maybe even someplace scary (for some of you introverts, this could be as simple as going to the grocery store. :) ).
Anyways, when you're done with your trip, come back and draw about it. It doesn't really matter what you draw...a little comic sequental, a series of images, one big piece summing it all up, a collage. The important part is the doing. The goal is the experience itself. See something you wouldn't see, do something you wouldn't do. Then try to relate it to others through your art.
It doesn't have to be deep and emotional. I'm sure not a good enough artist to do anything more than documentary style scribblings.
Anyways, this is a free for all so if you feel like doing it...do it and share the results! I'm not sure when I'll be able to do mine...I'm going rock climbing at Joshua Tree for the first time this weekend so I might document that, but I'd like to do something more spontaneous during the week. (edit - bah, forgot I'm looking for a new apt. this weekend...probably no rock climbing..boooo)
