his balls must really hurt all cramped up in those high ass metal underwear you got him in man.........Help him out a little there. His torso is too short, it jumps from his belly button straight to his thighs. strectch him out and give him some hips. Other than the simple anatomy fixes, you have a good idea going here. keep working. by the way what is the thing in his hand, a trumpet thingy?

dont hesitate to tell me what sucks...Im definately trying to learn from this as much as anything
Simon.wt - hey man, dont fret too much. By the time were dont we'll have not just one, but 3 finished pieces ;)
silva412 - thanks for the crits! yeah...i was trying to make him burly but now that you mention it he does seem to be missing some meat in there. As for the cup...hey, bounty huntin's a rough buissiness. You gotta protect the crown jewels! Oh yeah...that trumpet thing is supposed to be a blunderbuss type rifle, but right now its giving me issues so im ignoring it for the time being.

Looking good guys, I really like the way you shaded his face Trevor.

Color correction, I think your over-qualified bud, lol. 826, man that smells like a whole new brand of headache to me. Well maybe you can open them all at once and do an auto level adjust haha. Well money is money I guess. Hope it works out for ya. Probably need about another day or 2 to finish mine up. How bout you MrBright? Have you started coloring yet?

Nice clandestine. Good to see yours as well. I like the design for that cybered out costume you got her in. You show some nice volume in those drawings of yours too...
Cant wait to see your critter trevor. Positive cashflow is always a good thing. Cheers on the job
I wont be able to make it to E3, but i think i might be visiting my girl in Arroyo Grande so if theres an event id love to swing by the city. It would be cool to see some other CAers in the flesh.
Art B. - Hey, i dont see why not. You gotta get trevors approval though id say, since he kicked this thing off. Looked at some of your posts btw, looks like you got some skills ;)

Thanks Chaos, I try very hard to keep things looking 3d. On occasion, I succeed.
Art B, I am cool with it, but like Chaos said you would have to ask trevor. You could also challenge him seperately if you come up with a topic. After all he has been talking about wanting to get multiple challenges going at once. But maybe not with the new gig *shrug. :chug:

April 15th, 2004, 04:39 PM
:boring:Clandestine, your coloring job is very nice. However, you really need to work on your portrait skills. The face on the girl looks terrible. And the pose that you put her in for the second pic is very weak compared to the first one, though both figures are off balance. I think that still need alot of work on your underdrawings, instead of going straight to the "detail". Just putting my two cents in.:iws:

Hey Clandestine. Man, i guess me and trevor both disappeared into a black void. Ill make an effort to finish mine this weekend. Still wont have color though =/
I wanted to comment on your post though! Man...your final piece totally blew away my expectations. Very nice! The most striking things is, like i said before, your volume, which you seems to have achieved even better with your color job. your design is solid too, nice critter.
Im gonna disagree with Nero's on the balance issue. I think the 1st is well balanced but for the consideration of the weapon, and the second is well balanced over all, as you have her bearing agaisnt the weight of the wep. The left leg(her left) could be moved in a little more to solidify the stance more but i think its ok.
I will however agree that the weakest part of the composition is her face. I think where youre tripping up is that you are treating it like a 2d surface as opposed to a volumetric 3d one like you do with the rest of the figure. Youre definately capable of that, like youve shown, i think you just have to look at the structure of the face and break it down in the same way.
But all in all i really dig it...specially the design aspect. (studies the armor to catch some tips ;) )
ok...time to shut up and go finish mine =P see yas

it's cool with me, whenever you guys get a chance to finish up, I just posted because I need to get cracking on other projects and I just wanted this done. As to the face, I am still working on faces, it is one of my weakest points, as I do not practice them as often as I should. To her being off balance, that is another issue that I have with most of my drawings.
If any one has some suggestions on faces or balance in general I would like to hear it.

Clandestine_IX - your ink lines are way to strong and thick for my taste, and the color doesn't come thro because of that. other comments said before are in need of fixin as well! keep em coming!

chaos, i like you pic, but i would like to know what the hell that guy is carrying.

I'm looking forward to seeing your final entry Trevor. Yeah I understand you got alot going so its cool I just wanted to know if we were going to play this out or not.
Brkofdon- I guess my linework isn't for every body. It is pencil though not ink. For the most part I don't like the painted look so I let my linework do the talking. I did go a little overboard perhaps on this peice though. The other things mentioned are true, and I have and will continue to work to improve them. -Thanks

Your final picture is looking good, Trevor. Cool character design ! That background seems to be the ps clouds filter. (I guess you don't have time to paint a real one.) That's the only minus I see.
