FINALS ONLY
-= ROUND 236 =-
-= Snowmancer =-

DESCRIPTION
The nomads of the North are renowned warriors; capable of surviving extreme conditions and defeating the most ferocious of arctic beasts. But these ice lords are also bound by magic as well as nature. The gifted Snowmancers conjure fantastic beings made of snow, ice and magic to aid them in hunting, fighting, even moving huge blocks of ice when constructing new buildings.
Design a Snowmancer of the Northern Nomads AND their conjured beast

Okay, this one is just for fun. I realized last night I wasn't gonna get a real entry finished on time so I greatly simplified it into a cartoon.
Looking forward to seeing all the other entries.

I love these fantasy CHOWs!
1189097
When children are born they are assigned an Animal Spirit depending upon the circumstances of their birth. Once they reach adulthood, a snowmancer must venture alone into the wilds, track and kill the earthern form of their Spirit Animal (In this case, a polar bear).
Once slain, the Snowmancer must perform a bonding ritual using a part of the dead animal (In this case a paw). They must carry this piece with them at all times in order to bond their own spirit with that of their Guardian.
After much training, the Snowmancer is finally able to summon their Snow and Ice Guardian at will by casting an ancient bonding rune, the Guardian will take the shape of their Spirit Animal and the Snowmancer will be able to control them through their bond.

Great week people, awesome topic! It´s been fun but hard, I chickened out on the coloring of mine, sorry but I feel I cant make the image justice if it looks like a colorised mess.
Anyways, here is Orbai Khan at the Battle of the Tartar Pass, along with her summoned wintersnake Felin.

ok, i have voted for davenale, beautiful work, i can almost see entire book for children or cool comic or cartoon. Excellent style, execution from start. Top notch
second vote is for (lark, although i see you could work on it more on all parts of image(tree, beast, character) i kinda like it. Can't say more, maybe because of character sketch, maybe because of 45 degree/from above angle shoot.
I would also like to mention cool works by partisan, artfix and ruri. All of you have excellent style, very unique, but in next chow i would like to see more!!
oh and fox as well, great drawing
Everyone else, great works, will see you on next round
cheers guy, this was excellent week, at least for me, 34 entries!!!

alexson: Super cool rendering of the ice! Dig the style. You get a vote for sure!
MatejaPetkovic: That's just so sweet, totally rock-solid. I don't even know what this is! Is is somekind of photo-montage-action? If so, I've never seen it used so successfully for a concept piece. In any case, you are a painting-pro and this thing is over-the-top for a concept piece! Excellent entry!

Good work everyone, really good standard all round.
I've limited my votes to the three that stood out above the rest for me....these aren't the only ones I liked, they just had a little something else:
Lark: Love the perspective you used, great composition and colour too, would have been cool to see it more rendered, but you can tell that all that would take is more noodling, you've got a great feeling into it now.
Janjager: I love the way you treated the creature, I know it's not a creature design activity, but the way you communicated the ice is really sweet, dig the character's pose too-it feels like she's actually part of the ritual.
MatejaPetkovic: Really nice work, dug your last piece too-cool style.
