How to make human silhouettes in illustrator?

I need to make some full body and human hand silhouettes in illustrator or any other program for figure representation in product designs...any ideas of how I can do this?

scan a photo or drawing, trace around the outside with the pen tool and fill it with black (or red...or blue, etc.)....1,2,3...done.
